How I always think of Brandon Streeter

Yeah, I guess I'm getting old. Last game of my senior year, Tommy West got fired the Wednesday before, and Brad Scott the elder riding a 9 game losing streak. Tigers over the gamecocks, team carrying Tommy and Lindsey West off the field on their shoulders victorious on the night. Streeter got it done that night. He was tough beyond his frame. He could really stand in there and take a hit. Fun game to watch after so long, with the orange wall and the announcers commenting how the shotgun is such a rare sight in death valley. We went 3-8 and finished last in the ACC that year. My freshman year was West's first full season, and my senior year was his last. I was in the band, so I saw the whole thing.

Doggone man! You were there for one of the worst periods for Clemson Football in history. Sorry about that, I'm sure that diploma has served you well though.

I can honestly say that everything "good" we claim about Clemson.. the Clemson family, "something in those hills," .... was just as true in our leanest years as in our best. We had no fair-weather fans then, just true orange-blooded Clemson folks. We had a blast, even though we didn't win much. We did have the Rick Barnes years in basketball, so that was fun. We went to the peach bowl and gator bowl a time or two, and went to the NCAA basketball tourney and Madison Square garden for the NIT before I left. I played trumpet for Frank Howard's graveside service, which I thought was an honor. I saw Tommy Bowden come on the scene my first year of grad school. I met my future wife in the band my senior year. And yeah, the diploma has served me well.

We won 25 games in your four years! In my four years (1968-71), we won 16!

I feel your pain. I was also there from 1967 to 1971. I can still say that I was proud to be a Tiger and attended every football game. I still remember the signs hanging out of windows in the tin cans saying "Beat anybody!"
My, how times have changed. Go Tigers!

Streeter was a fun QB to watch in the early Bowden era. He did get the #### kicked out of himself with that line against the stronger opponents on the schedule. But he kept slinging it until he would get knocked out of the game. Could never question his toughness.

We'd go to FSU and whatever they could find of him and scrape off the turf would come back home in a bucket..

Be there for Tommy Bowden’s first season. Losing the opener to Marshall felt very defeating.
That experience as a student and the long climb to national relevance with many, many let downs along the way allows me to appreciate our success under Dabo to the extreme.

Not in the band, but I was friends with a family who let me go to games with them now and then when mom or brother couldn't make it from 1995 to 1999. Lean years for sure.
I remember the day he got hurt against North Carolina. Rough day. But that was the start of the Woody Dantzler era.
I also worked in the athletic department at a school that gave Street one of his first coaching jobs. I was responsible for tickets, and he was the liaison for player tickets, just one of those paperwork things that one of the coaches has to do at a smaller school. Very pleasant guy in dealing with me, but I also wasn't getting my butt chewed out for missing a block or assignment!
He didn't have a lot of time, but we talked Tiger football for a few minutes whenever he'd stop in. Who woulda thunk he'd be in a prime position to contribute to another potential national championship.

I was down there that day. West got a great send off, even though that was only his 3rd win that year. He was a beloved Clemson man, even though he was mediocre at best as a coach.
I remember too when Tommy Bowden was being introduced, and they opened up the stadium and played it on the big screen. I was certain we had arrived. Good for us Bowden went after some dude named Dano or something like that ?
