What's more interesting is this car company offers sedans from $2000 right up to luxury EV SUVs for $44k. Imagine a car company that makes cheap cars right up through luxury models.
And the excuses as to why we can't have these cars is hilarious. Geely cars score 5 stars in most international safety ratings. They have the same crash avoidance systems my Toyota has, and airbags too. We won't even try to rate them for safety. Emissions? Some models are an EV. And the rest sip gas. They have hybrids getting 88mpg.
Anyway, these vehicles are selling well in the middle east, Mexico, South America and in Europe. Meanwhile I didn't see a new pickup for sale at the dealership the other day for under 50k.
America deserves better. We deserve a free market. Maybe our leader can crack a history book and ask Detroit to make Americans some affordable cars? Call it a Magawagon. Wait... Crack a book? Nevermind.

All those electronics manufacturing jobs, 5 million of them I'm told, ALL GONE. And yet unemployment declined steadily as we farmed off millions of tech and other manufacturing jobs through the 80's and 90's. Overall unemployment declined from 1982-2007, until the financial crisis. Then dropped to 3.5% just before covid hit, then after, it's dropped back to around 4%.
Like the lady who used to work at the textile mill in Greenwood. She made what she thought was good money. Worked there for years. Mill shut down, production moved to Guatemala, and she was out of a job. She got a job at a bank and today she's so glad she left that mill and is making more money than she ever thought she'd make.

It would take five Trump Tariff Stimulus ‘Bate checks for that premium model.

Most manufacturing left the US in the 90s, so I don't remember too much.***
