My only problem with our baseball

team is their lack of aggression at the plate. Thats just my opinion but I do like teams that look to hit. Oh...and I don't like the mistakes on the basepaths either. Both of those seem to be yearly patterns.

Opinions on aggression at the plate...

definitely vary among baseball minds. Some argue that the best pitch you may ever see in an at bat is the first pitch, as the pitcher wants to throw a strike to get ahead in the count. Others argue it is better to work the count, driving up pitch count, and forcing the other team into their bullpen earlier than they would like.
It's really impossible to say which one is right, as both sides have their merit and drawbacks.

I think it has a lot to do with the skills of the batter...

I'm trying to work with my high schooler right now to attack the ball a little more. He's a good contact hitter and he's usually a first pitch swinger (which I don't have a problem with). I just feel like he approaches that first strike as he would if it was the third strike. Needs to load up the bat a little more on the first two strikes.

Basically told her that (we) her coaches will trade a strikeout or two for rips to the fence. Told her to try and tear the cover off the ball on the first two strikes then choke & poke the third.

Like I said just my opinion. I like for a team to be prepared to hit anyone that the other team runs out there. I just tend to think that you aren't dangerous unless you swing the bat.

through the first few innings throwing bbs & hitting all my spots, my father would have me throw one to the back stop; it was a comfort breaker at the plate. kept anyone from getting comfortable or thinking twice about digging in.

and it's right for the matchup. If you're playing a team with a deep pen go after the starter so you don't play to their strength but otherwise you can win either way.

Due to the coach we have heading up the program.

We have started out slow batting for many years now. I really think we may be a little more aggressive this year so far. I hadn't looked at the statistics but I don't think we have as many strikes out with our bats on our shoulders. We seem to be swinging we are just not making good contact yet. There is a difference.
