Hey everyone,

I was looking at the roster breakdown today after seeing some questions about how many more recruits we could take in the 2016 class. I figured someone might be interested in the breakdown.

*UPDATED*

85 Scholarships

We lose the following Seniors (11):

CJ Davidson
Charone Peake
Stanton Seckinger
Ryan Norton
Joe Gore
Eric MacLain
Jim Brown
DJ Reader
Rod Byers
BJ Goodson
Ammon Lakip

Also, we have the following leaving due to draft/graduation/transfers (11):

JJ McCullough
Zac Brooks
Shaq Lawson
Travis Blanks
Mac Alexander
Jayron Kearse
Kevin Dodd
TJ Green
TJ Burrell (graduates in May)
Martin Aiken (graduates in May)
Jeffrie Gibson (transfer)

For commits, we currently have 18 (including Brian Dawkins, Jr and LaSamuel Davis who didn't qualify last year thus is not currently on scholarship).

Also interesting to note is that Greg Huegel is not on scholarship.

85 scholarships - 11 Seniors - 11 Sophomores/Juniors + 18 commits = 81 (leaving room for 4 more commits OR 3 commits + a Greg Huegel scholarship).

Obviously this excludes any future transfers (we probably will have 1 or 2, we always do) and I don't know what Nick Schuessler's plans are. If he graduates in May, that's an extra scholarship. We may not be planning on carrying 5 scholarship QBs. Any idea if Nick plans to graduate in May?


TL;DR: 4 official roster spots assuming: no more transfers AND Huegel isn't on scholarship AND Schuessler doesn't graduate in May

Schuessler isn't going to be around next year,and that's the scholarship Turner gets. Look for Dabo o finish NSD with 86 total scholarship athletes. He knows he's gonna lose one or 2 to transfers or stupidity before August.

Yep, I think you might see a running back and/or a receiver transfer out for playing time, plus Schuessler may opt to play his final year elsewhere (assuming he graduates in May).
