And there it is...anyone with kids who need a snow day to remember forever, unplug your WiFi and you'll probably find it's down too. Then it'll be time for a parental decision to redirect them to a field day until the internet is restored.

Yep. It doesn’t hurt my feelings at all. Elearning is a joke anyway and I’d much rather have my boys outside bombing hills with sleds.

Yeah, my kids haven’t touched their work and probably won’t until tonight or tomorrow. Let them enjoy the snow. They’ve already made tomorrow another e “learning” day in Charleston county.

Thanks, BigAl31! I actually do not mind teaching classes virtually at all!

I prefer to be in the same room with the students, but I am fine with a virtual (videoconference) classroom.
What I don't like is teaching a class in which some students are in the room while other students are (simultaneously) online. In my mind, that is the least effective setup.

Kids don't actually have work to do on E learning days. They have assignments that have to be completed by a later date.

During the early 60s, we called it hooky. Was fun to play occasionally. Daughter in law will be teaching her 7 year old son's class at some point so that should be an interesting situation.

my mom was a teacher for 40 years, and she taught me at a small 1A school. I tried to skip ONE TIME, she knew within 10 minutes and had my ### back in the classroom

Remote learning is ruining snow days for kids.

I think there should be a law that days off for weather cannot include any remote learning.

E-learning can be assignments that students have to turn in on a later date. Staff/teachers work from home. Students can email teachers and they respond. The advantage of e-learning is that it counts as an attendance day and does not have to be made up. It is e-learning tomorrow for many districts. If there are a large number of weather days that are not e-learning, the missed days have to made up the days on Saturdays, planned holidays, less days for spring break or extend the school year.
