My Four Mile Loop (GO BILLS!) - Hoping for a big day from Shaq #90!!!!

I went on a four mile run today. Photos from the houses I went by are included below. It was loop that included my neighborhood, parts of Hertel Avenue, a little bit of Parkside, and both sides of Main Street.

Market value of homes in this four mile loop range from approximately $140K to over $1M. There are people of the Christian, the Jewish, and the Islamic faiths (likely many other faith groups too). A church, synagogue, and a mosque are all within walking distance.

There are immigrants and there are people whose ancestors fought in the American Revolution.

There are Native Americans, whose ancestors (Seneca Nation of Indians) lived in what is now Buffalo long before Europeans arrived.

There are people who are firefighters, police officers, teachers, doctors, architects, software programmers, artists, baristas, bartenders, engineers, storekeepers, Uber drivers, investment bankers, and members of the military.

There are yard signs for all types of political parties, candidates, and issues.

There are people who lost family and friends during our prolonged battle with COVID-19, during the white supremacy motivated mass shooting that broke our hearts in May, and during the recent blizzard that gripped the region for over two days.

That's the four mile loop where I live. A microcosm in some respects of our kaleidoscope country.

All are united by the Buffalo Bills, a team that embodies the collective spirit and noble resilience of Buffalo, NY. I’m not from here, it something I really admire about the people here - they are so tough, so resilient in the face of tremendous adversity.

We saw Damar Hamlin collapse and our hearts sank, we prayed, and then marveled at the first responders, doctors, and nurses that helped save his life. We stared in disbelief when Nyheim Hines returned the opening kickoff of the next game, less than six days later, for a touchdown.

Storybook, legendary, all real. Destiny manifested.

If championships were decided the palatable willpower of a community, it would be no contest at all. There might be some close calls along the way, but make no mistake:

We are going to a win the Super Bowl.

GO BILLS!

To me, one of the great "What If's" in NFL history will

always be:

What if the Buffalo Bills field goal kicker had not missed that chip shot field goal in their first Super BowL, which wound up being gifted to Bill Parcell's New York Giants? Maybe the Bills WIN four in a row back then, instead of LOSING for in a row. Alas, we will never know.

Only thing stranger than going on a “4 mile run”

but stopping to take a photo of every house along the way…

Is working so hard to divide people into categories like this.
Can’t people just be people?

It’s more of a jog these days - over 40 club!

Didn’t sound divisive at all. It is uniting.

In the classic American way, rather than the woke Marxist race-baiting grifter way.

Row,

Jesus christ!! You read that post and got divisiveness. Maybe you better look in the mirror.

I see green grass, and no snow, in those photos.

Definitely not taken on a January Sunday in Buffalo.

Ha! I promise it was!!!! It is starting to flurry now.

Anticipate heavy snow later this week.

It’s how it goes, snow, melt, repeat - why I’m always looking for a reason to get down to y’all this time of year.

Looking to make a run down for some fly-fishing at end of February.

That’s a twisted take on a nice story.

Brad Brownell: Only Larry freaking Shyatt has a WORSE overall winning percentage among Clemson basketball coaches since 1975. Let that sink in. It's Larry Shyatt & then Brad Brownell.

I want Buffalo to win for one reason only.

But, he throws to Tee

I like to see Tee do well, which pretty much means Joe has to do well.

I went on a four mile run today

in Anderson. It was raining and cold. I did not get mugged, and no one threw anything at me from a moving car.
It takes all I can muster to do 4 miles, no energy for taking photos.

Go TIGERS !!

Just curious as to why folks live in Buffalo. Not be sarcastic, it's just when I see reports on the awful winter weather the question that always comes to my mind: "Those folks know they can move from Buffalo, right?" Ha ha

Probably a nice place to live outside of winter but the winters seem brutal.

Nice post. I enjoyed reading about Buffalo.
