Mr. Wright,
It seems you’re trying to get a reaction out of Clemson fans and alumni in questioning Dabo Swinney’s leadership concerning Sammy Watkins’ punishment. We all understand that this how many writers stuck in mid-market towns gain notoriety. There’s not much happening in college football in SC in late July, let’s jump the gun on Swinney’s announcing the punishment by being overly critical of Swinney for the delay.
In my opinion, Swinney’s leadership is beyond question as far as discipline during his tenure as Clemson’s head coach. This is what he said about Watkins about six weeks ago:
“Is there a chance he doesn’t miss any time? Probably not,” Swinney said. “I’m not going to make any decision until we get closer to playing time, and the main reason for that is Sammy has a process he has to deal with; some things he has to fulfill this summer. A lot of that is going to depend on how he responds and so far he has hit a home run in every category of how he has responded to this situation.”
Leadership means making the call yourself and not responding to pressure from the media or fans to make a decision that goes against what you know is best for the program and players.
You say that Swinney:
“Looks bad. Looks like you’re afraid to stand up and assert leadership.”
I assert that you’re making your profession look bad, and “…you’re afraid to stand up and assert leadership” in a profession where it is badly needed right now.

to his article is mixed and not slanted. He responded to my pointing out that out of 26 comments on his article, 20 were negative and 6 supportive. Of the 6 supportive, 4 were coots that took other shots at Dabo and 1 didn't seem to grasp the article. The other claims to live in Clemson and thought Bart was spot-on. For years I have written adn accused him of having a strong bias against Clemson and the past two years against Dabo. I believe as he ages and his carreer dwindles he sees a young Dabo getting the spotlight and he must harobr an inner jealousyl that bleeds out in his writting. Go Tigers!

had called him and were in agreement with him. Yeah, I'm sure a hand full of Clemson people agree with ya Bart. I see them on TNet daily bashing Dabo anytime they can because they didn't like the hire three years ago and can't let go of it. Just because some irrational Tiger fans agree with your hatchet job doesn't make it right or good journalism.
