ESPN is a joke

It's the epitome of what happens when a decent news network gets taken over by corporate interests.
I can't even watch it anymore. It's that bad. It's going the route of MTV, in that it's more about spectacle than it is about substance.
And if a game is on, I have to mute it.

ESPN, Life lessons...
Aug 6, 2012, 4:00 PM

Its all about competition and the sports aspect, not about the life of the college athlete!! They have shows that deal with that but the college football live program is all about the X's and O's and game data... Dabo is a great coach, but I believe he is an equally genuine person
I could honestly care less what ESPN ever says, I am tired of the talk about how his loss kills us and we may very well find out that is the truth but until gameday we can only be optimistic that our team will play inspired in his absense!!

Sounds like ESPN is on the same thought process as all of the media outlets here in cootville. They are absolutely wearing Dabo out for his decision. But of course we would be hearing the same thing had there been next to no discipline or that similar to what Spurrier handed down to his 4th string QB so Dabo was in a no win situation.

There is not even the slightest comparison between Clemson and USC discipline...Garcia spent 4 years being an absolute nuisance and yet kept getting another shot based on his (supposed) ability!! USC is just like all the other SEC programs who are only about WINNING...
I believe the statement Dabo was what he felt was right by the program, Sammy, and college football!! I stand with him on this and for those who are all about winning let me just say this.... winning is awesome, doing it with pride and character is UNIQUE

I heard one of the announcers on ESPN say that the WVU game would be all the incentive that Clemson needs to kick the War Eagles ####. I agree with that analysis.

I don't think they had to 'spin' much. Watkins being out definitely hurts us against AU. You are reading too much into this.

Why in the world would ESPN want to talk about the "life lessons" involved with suspending Sammy for a game. They wouldn't say it for Bama, Southern Cal, Texas, Notre Dame, South Carolina, etc...why would they do it for us?

Agreed. In my opinion he shouldn't have had anything happen to him. I think Dabo over-did it with this one, but it's not my decision to make.

That's not the point. The point is, regardless of who it was, they're not going to praise them for "teaching a life lesson". I know everyone here hates ESPN for some reason, but their job is to report about sports, and the fact that we won't have Sammy against Auburn is devastating to us.
I still think we can win, but when you're missing your All-American wide receiver, it's the story. Not the lesson.
When Florida State suspended Peter Warrick back when they were the #1 team in the nation and the absolute #1 story in the country, nobody was talking about the life-lesson taught to Peter Warrick (or Laveranues Coles who was less fortunate and was booted off the team).

Evidently TCU's QB was busted for possession but pass an immediate drug test. The coach did nothing about the possession charge.
The comments was, "Had this been a fourth string lineman he would have been suspended. Different strokes!"

###### if you do and ###### if you don't situation. Sammy is suspended and now that is all they will talk about. If he were to play, all they would talk about would be arrest and Dabo lettng him play.
They are just po'd because they are afraid it will hurt their ratings without sammy

I wish Dabos decision was based on the fact that what Sammy did was a victimless crime. Isn't it enough that he received punishment from the jurisdiction where he committed the alleged crime. Who cares?
