All these names...

But Clemfan and Vivitz said no one would want this job.

Was that something I said? Not sure at all that I did but may have said it would have an effect and it is. It is my understanding that Corbin and Sully both either said no or refused the call and even everyone's favorite guy Lee is rumored to be freaking out over the 21 of 22 run. Feel free to remind me where my post saying no one would want the job might be.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Where's the proof?

Jun 11, 2015, 9:10 PM

If it is your understanding that they said no or refused the call then you have gotten it from somewhere unless you know Corbin or Sully personally and I somehow doubt that so where's the link proving your statement? Considering DRad said that there were potential candidates involved in postseason play so someone in Omaha is listening. If this thing goes past tomorrow without Lee being named considering he is going for interview number 2 then there is no other reason than DRad waiting on one of these head coaches out in Omaha and he wouldn't be doing that if everyone in Omaha said no. Clemson has no shot at Corbin but Sulley has shown his displeasure for how things have gone in Florida plus the fact that his wife has major ties to Clemson and Clemson is willing to make their next coach the highest paid coach in the ACC which I think is around or a little more than $600k. So there is more than just a couple things in Clemson's favor when it comes to Sulley...

Re: Where's the proof?

Jun 12, 2015, 7:40 AM

Notice I did not post this as non-disputable fact but rather stated that it was from my understanding based on various things I have read and people I have spoken to. Folks on Tigernet that have known me for the 17 years I have been on here tend to know that my information is usually reasonably valid and based on fact. You probably shouldn't presume to know who a persons contacts might be unless you know that person. I guess my advice is to take my thoughts for what they are worth or better yet, simply ignore my posts.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Pretty good chance he does know Sully and Corbin personally

Jun 12, 2015, 8:13 AM [ in reply to Where's the proof? ]

and we do know of a couple of coaches that have expressed reservations about the opening because of their loyalty to Jack. We just "lost" a recruit because of his dad's relationship with Jack.

But, on the flip side, if Jack is actively c**kblocking us from getting to folks that we want to interview, that is more of a stain on his reputation than any W/L. Thats Ron-Polk-crap-on-your-own-legacy type of stuff.

Re: Pretty good chance he does know Sully and Corbin personally

Jun 12, 2015, 8:20 AM

I would never believe for a second that Jack would block anyone. There are a lot of character traits one can use to describe Jack but I have never seen him do anything out of vindictiveness.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I certainly don't think he's making phone calls against us

Jun 12, 2015, 8:48 AM

but it would be nice if that coach (Michigan's?) that said his loyalty was to Jack, could have gotten a phone call from Jack saying something like "preciate the comments, but if Clemson is somewhere you would like to be, don't let me stop you." (For all we know that was a way for that coach to save face because he wasn't a legit candidate and/or Jack did call him.)

I do believe that we probably could have kept Cal Raleigh but that was more butthurt from Todd than a decision by Cal. A quick text btw former colleagues, and now probably friends, could have saved that.

I'm not trying to challenge Jack's integrity. But I also never would have thought that Ron Polk would have trashed Miss St after his 2nd retirement.

We all need to remember that Jack has been very good to Clemson. And Jack needs to remember that Clemson has been very good to him. If neither party screws it up in this tense time, Jack will have his name on the wall at BTF opposite Wilhelm, and it can be a productive relationship for a very long time.

It's in the pudding.***

Anger sometimes make people say some really stupid sh!t. I'm not angry, and I hope I'm not saying stupid sh!t, but I think we have a shot to bring Sully back to Clemson. It may be a small shot, but any shot has a chance of hitting it's target!!!

I still don't think we hear anything until after the CWS. I think there are a few more coaches he would want to interview.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

McMullen.

Jun 11, 2015, 8:34 PM

It was always my understanding that no one could talk to a coach while they are still competing as UV is in Omaha? I can NOT say I know the rules on it but that was my belief.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: McMullen.

Jun 11, 2015, 8:38 PM

that was my understanding also..however,I think this is more a "gentlemen`s agreement"that against the law.. now if a prospective candidate REQUEST an interview then all bets are off

"sources".

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Nah...happens more often than you think

Jun 12, 2015, 8:26 AM [ in reply to McMullen. ]

otherwise those assistants on good teams would never get a shot. Most schools won't wait 3 to 5 weeks without a coach. And "interview" and "talking" can mean a bunch of different things. Could be a phone call to gauge interest or a discussion with their agent. It doesn't have to be a distraction.

If I recall correctly, Holbrook was interviewed by SC DURING the regionals. SC was playing in Raleigh and UNC was hosting.

I'd rather have Szefc or McMullen than Lee. Too much

chicken smell with Lee.

Re: Think Jack was uptight? Just wait 'til you see McMullen

Jun 11, 2015, 9:04 PM

Holy moly. Check out the longevity of his pitchers during and after their time at UVA. At least we know Szefc likes to use colorful language as was heard when there were hot mics in the UMd dugout during the Big 10 tournament - oh that was before he got tossed and suspended for two games during the Regionals.

Just sayin.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

lol...might be fun hearing an 'old school' approach

Jun 11, 2015, 11:21 PM

coming out of the dugout.....lawd knows ACC umps used to dread seeing Coach Wilhelm come flying out
onto the field fully intent on a "discussion" frequently the conversation was not intended
for ladies or small children

McMullen doesn't coach pitchers at UVA. Karl Kuhn does.

Jun 12, 2015, 8:13 AM [ in reply to Re: Think Jack was uptight? Just wait 'til you see McMullen ]

McMullen coaches hitters and works with infielders and catchers. But hey, don't let that get in the way.

or how "experienced" he is if he can get this program headed back in the right direction.

Terrible, terrible replacement for Jack. If he couldn't win big for CoC we sure don't need him. Vie need a more experienced coach.
