Any chance, the ACC makes the jump and finally invites WVU?

It is aweful what that school has to go through now that they joined the Big VII. I think the ACC should just make a charity offer and add the Mountaineers. Now that we have taken Louisville, its not like academics are as high of a priority anymore. Its all about the business.

WVU is stuck in the Big XII. They have a grant of rights for their TV revenue until 2026 or something. They aren't going anywhere.

I think the ACC saw in UofL what they saw in FSU

An upward trajectory in everything including academics. FSU was not highly thought of when they joined but now they are about to become an AAU school. I don't think WVU is on the same track.
Unless Notre Dame is going to join full time there is no need to add another school and WVU doesn't really add anything anyway.
I vote for going after Penn State hard if ND would join. Or even if they dont for that matter.

It surely would help the ACC in having just one more FB school. I wouldn't mind it that much. And it would give us more chances to even the score with them and their lies about our team begging them to let up. I didn't believe that then, and I don't believe it now....

West Virginia wanted to play the teams from Texas, they can stick with the long trips now. Conference should be geographically close. They decided that simply wasn't of importance to them, so it is their own fault.

apart. The ACC wasn't interested. The Big 12 was their only choice if they wanted be in a BCS conference and not end up a mid major.

WVU adds nothing but a recent successful football program. I don't understand why every thinks that adding WVU will help the ACC? If WVU had to answer academically they would not be any good in football. Hell they let it more question marks then Lou Holtz did at USUCK. Personally I want nothing to do with them.

they add something for Football and Basketball. Academically and other sports, they add pretty much nothing. But, Football and Basketball are the revenue generator's. So really those two sports are the only ones that matter.

They would bring NOTHING to the table, in fact just read a story yesterday that their graduation rate is at 57%...so their football, basketball and baseball programs have all declined. No reason to add them, unless some of you need your couches burned.

ten years ago with VT and Miami.
Now its impossible, they can't get out of B12 for same reason nobody can now get out of ACC.

I could see it possibly happening if Texas, Oklahoma, and two others out of the Big 12 decide to go west to form the Pac16. That would destroy the conference and allow WVU to join either the ACC or SEC. The ACC would only add WVU if Notre Dame wanted to be a full member.

the gap and make the footprint completely contiguous. 2. It would be adding a school with great fan support in football and basketball.
It will not happen because WVU is now tied to a Grant of Rights to the Big Twelve. They are obligated for about 13 years at least.

if and when they do. The ACC will then add either UConn or Cinn. I don't think any of the Flordia schools will be invited and that doesn't leave anyone else.

football. And that's a big if. With taking a school with lower than normal ACC academic standards in Louisville, if ND joined full time, the ACC would most likely go after a different school other than WVU.

done.
I don't think ND joins for football at all, and I don't think WVU helps that. I think ND would want Navy. But if we were able to convince ND to join with WVU and someone was able to convince the Big 12 that eastern expansion is a bad fit and that they should cut ties with WVU without penalty, that would be great.

AAU membership is more about the total amount of research money than the overall quality of undergraduate education, the number one purpose of a university.

Would've really shored up the mid-Atlantic region with schools in Pennsylvania and WV that both have good football and basketball, although those aren't exactly coastal states.

picture a scenario where the B12 opts to release WVa from the GOR due to the added costs of travel and other scheduling logistics that are arising from their isolated presence. They each might discover that is in neither's mutual interest to continue the association and thus part ways. Academics aside, which could improve with ACC affiliation, they are a natural geographic fit and would add some decent pop to the league in football and basketball.
