VT can win an ACC title but we get to keep Brownell forever. Young’s success undermines every pro-Brownell argument. The state of our basketball program is pathetic and it should not be tolerated anymore.

Lol - looking for historical fiction to make you feel better about reality? If they miss do you really think we win 3 straight and blow out Duke. Remember, in 12 tries Brownell has NEVER won 2 games in the tournament. In 3 tries Mike Young has one the whole thing. Anyone arguing for Brownell at this point is full blown flat earth society.

They did blow a lead and since we could not hit crucial free throws, we still lost when Brownell called a TO and allowed VT to set a miracle play up. If you listened to Coach J. Davis statement during the TO, we needed the defenders to make the pathway up court difficult. We didn't; in fact, Dawes was backing up as Maddox was dribbling up court to get his buzzer beater off.

I think it's time for a change as well but that absolutist attitude is not productive when looking forward.
Granted, you weren't trying to be productive or you'd suggest his replacement.

These arguments have been repeated as naseum on these digital pages. Mike Young winning an ACC title at a lesser program proves them a fallacy. The coach matters above all other factors and our guy is not the guy.

Not sure why you think they are a lesser program as they have many more NCAA tourney experiences and a stand alone basketball facility. Basically there are very few programs with a lesser history than us and VT is not one of them

I might not like a coach but you spending a whole lot of energy trashing Clemson as a whole. Clemson has finished the season ranked twice as much as VT and has been ranked nearly twice as many total weeks. VT has a slightly better win loss record but if you examine VT’s strength of schedule prior to entering the ACC you’ll see that Clemson averaged being more than twice as difficult. Clemson has also won more NCAA tourney games. But all of these facts are very inconvenient for your constant bashing of Clemson’s basketball history. So yes, upon entering the ACC, Virginia Tech had a lesser history than Clemson yet has neutralized that in a very short period of time with no more significant investment.

He had to patch-work a full roster over a Summer. A good coach can evaluate and develop talent.
Similar to a good AD — evaluate and hire a good candidate, hold them accountable for expectations to the vision. The hire is only scary if the guy hiring is incompetent too.
My fear is that the Athletic Department doesn’t have a vision for the BB program. Dabo brings that for Football, but Brad ain’t that for Basketball. And I guess the guy driving the vision now says graduation is the only bar. We need a vision for successful results on the court and the expectation that graduation is why they are here (fundamental).

Not to mention VA tech has made the tourney what five years in a row. All of that craps about rural this and pay the coach more is just dumb. At this point im wondering what the 63.5 million investment into little john was for.
