Met CDS yesterday and he made an emotional day special

for us while we dropped my son off at camp. I reached out to the camp director a while back and let her know our situation, and she forwarded the message to CDS and he immediately responded that he would meet with us.
CDS really made it a very special day for @laid-backtiger and our son. He gave LBT an autographed football and took the time to talk with us and our three kids. We all had our picture taken with him at the rock. What an incredible person. He was so gracious to us.
LBT left this morning to go serve our country in Afghanistan and Tigernet ... I have the sad.  Please pray for his safe return.
The image below shows the gifts that we gave LBT over the past few days as we'll be missing some special celebrations with him. The book was his birthday gift, the pen (made by @19B's dad) was his Father's Day gift, and the meeting/signed football was for Christmas.

your son's that is about to be deployed to Afghanistan? Doesn't really matter, as it sounds like you had a fantastic day and thank you to LBT for his service to this country. I'll never forget my mother dropping me off at the Atlanta airport in 1969 for my deployment to Viet Nam. Since that time we have gone through three deployments (Defense Department) for my daughter to Iraq and one to Afghanistan. Thank goodness the Iraq deployments were only for six months and the Afghanistan a little shorter. I wish LBT a safe journey and he will remain in my thoughts and prayers!

THANKS for sharing all. You remind me what makes me proud, emotional and always ready to stand and fight for our military families, our country (God help/bless us) and our Clemson.

Though hostile fire zone deployments are inherently terrifying they are gifts in many ways. One truly learns the definition of faith and character. Often these gifts come at a very high price but those of us now older need those young troopers and do appreciate their works
