And is about to get paid like a ####. That's why I love the nfl, you can be an ahole, crybaby, leg stomper, basically anything except a woman beater, child abuser, or murderer and as long as you can play at an all pro level, you will get paid.

It's a metaphor. Rape is awful. So is murder. So is abuse. That's why we're using them figuratively.
How many times have you heard someone say "he murdered his man," or "He abused his defender."
Might as well say we can't call someone a "beast" or say that a team "just has the horses," because those words are dehumanizing.

The reason that people are more sensitive about using the word 'rape' is that rape victims, unlike most victims of other crimes, often suffer their trauma in silence and this presents certain problems for rape victims in terms of dealing with the psychological impact of the crime (victims are often unable to process the event and to heal in a meaningful way, etc.). For example, when people mention 'rape' or describe rape, sometimes this triggers a PTSD response in rape victims whereby the victim ends up reliving that trauma. I don't think this kind of result is common, but why take the chance? I mean, metaphors are useful and all, but I think the English language affords us plenty of other words that will get the job done.

So can I say a player "abused" his man?

Child and domestic abuse is rampant and certainly leaves traumatic psychological scars.

IndiIndicate a secular nature. For examplw, man can rape nature by ravishing it's resources. Also, rape is indeed no laughing matter, unless you'really ###### a clown.
