McShay's at it again, still not given Vic enough credit

"The biggest question for him on tape is whether he has the strength to set the edge against the run. He still isn't a sure thing in this regard, but his measuring in at 6-foot-3, 246 pounds (up from 220 pounds in the spring) and bench-pressing 25 reps were positive signs.
Moreover, he proved that he has that one elite skill you need to overcome size and strength issues as an NFL pass-rusher, with his exceptional straight-line speed (4.53 40-yard dash and 1.59 10-yard split, the latter of which is the stuff of elite edge rushers and a predictive measure for NFL success) that matches the quickness we see from him on tape.
I think his performance solidifies him as a first-round pick, somewhere in the top 25. He's unlikely to be there when the Dallas Cowboys pick at No. 27, but he makes a lot of sense for the Pittsburgh Steelers at No. 22."
- First he has the wrong bench reps in the article (it's 35 not 25) - There's still a subtle jab in there that Vic is weak - He keeps harping on this 220 lbs weight from over a year ago that was rumored even though there's video evidence that Vic was 236 lbs last fall - All of a sudden he now thinks Vic will be a 1st rounder, but barely (even though with that combine performance and Vic's production everybody knows he's now top 10)
Man, I hate that guy.

Has McShit ever been right about a player out of Clemson. I really don't think so with us having a the #4 pick 1st round with Sammy, CJ Spiller #9 1st round #9 pick. Did he get any of those right or close to right. I'm betting he doesn't get Vic right either.

I think there is legit concern about Beasley as a 4-3 DE playing vs the run. Even at 245/250, my guess is a 3-4 rush olb. Basically a de in a 2 pt stance with less run responsibility. Steelers would love to have him. They have put guys on the map at that position.

He is entering the draft as a LB and has performed all combine drills with the LBs.

Then why is McGhey even talking about him setting the edge? I mean, he will have to participate on run plays, but it's not like he's gonna make a living against the run.....he's a pass rush machine in a pass happy league. No brainer.

Because he's only going to be drafted by a 3-4 defense where the olb will have the responsibility of setting the edge.
He's not a lb in a 4-3.

"I know everyone will have him pegged as a 3-4 edge guy, but I think 4-3 defenses would be crazy not to consider him as a WILL or SAM who can bump down as an edge rusher in third downs. Denver does it with Von Miller, so why not consider it?"
So yeah...at least one team is considering him as a LB in a 4-3. But I'm sure you know more than the NFL scouts do

It's one thing to question Vic's size..

But to question his strength? That's where I stop paying attention, because the guy clearly has NO IDEA what he's talking about. The 25 vs. 35 bench reps mistake only solidifies my opinion of this clown.

Everybody that writes about the NFL draft is consistently wrong (that's just part of it), but McShay is probably the worst of the major ones and it's not close. He really made himself look like an ### with Andre Woodson, and he used to just list the returning starters with the best stats for his early pre-season draft rankings, regardless of anything else. I remember he had Cullen Harper as the best QB in his draft rankings before his senior season. Nothing against Cullen (who was fine as a college QB), but it was obvious he never even watched how Harper racked up the majority of his yards with simple screens, easy reads, and very little of the difficult throws NFL QBs require.

I know that's where Harper got most his stats but

He also made some very difficult throws in college. Not as many as you would like to see for him to be considered an NFL prospect but he did will we had to make those throws. He was excellent while throwing on the run, especially when he was rolling to his right. If we had better receivers when he here i think he would of had better stats as far as throwing the ball 20+ yds
