Gosh. They're prolly gonna miss a bowl.

Hard to find two more wins on the sked the way GaTetch played against UNC last night.

Also hard to measure the long-term damage a bowlless season would do to the program and Dabo's prospects as HC.

If there was a “Boy we really crapped the bed bowl” we would go there

When was the last time Clemson didn't make a bowl?

It was the year of the Pistons Malice at the Palace, the same weekend, I believe it was November 2004. USC and Clemson had a brawl during game. Both schools declined bowl invites as a result.

2023 may turn out to be another Clemson streak that ends this year. Four more weeks to find out. It has been brutal. More troubling is Dabo's lack of answers and appears to be helpless to right it.

The perfect storm hit Clemson since 2020. Coaching staff changes, elite player leaving, NIL, transfer portal, extra covid eligibility have all changed the game. It does not appear Dabo is managing thru these changes very well. He should'nt blame fans for expecting to win. He makes $10M+ a year, and a lot is expected for that money.

Lastly, barring significant improvement a 6th win is not guaranteed. Do you think the Pinstripe Bowl would be a great destination in December in Yankee stadium?

Also, Dabo had two bowl disasters along the way against South Florida and WVU in 2009 & 2012? Staff changes, recruiting and player development changed the culture and direction. Sound familiar?

But the playing field is different now. Not sure Clemson and Dabo can compete and succeed in this environment? Does he have the right players, staff, and program operating philosophy? Maybe not.....

Prolly not.

First thing you have to do is get everyone agreeing on what "competing and succeeding" means.

At Dabo's price point and the overall investment and cost of running the program, "competing and succeeding" is being a CFP contender every year. Or at least every other year.

If it's not that, you've got a really flashy dud. A cautionary tale on the level of aTm and their Jimbo nightmare.

We got a 1.5 million dollar coach for the bargain of 10 million.

Now it's become apparent.

Is what it is.

1998 was the last time we weren’t bowl eligible.

We didn’t go in 2004 because of the brawl in the SC game. That was self imposed.

2004.

Voluntarily declined a bid after the fight with the cacks.

Last time they just plain stunk to the point of missing an invite? West era. 1998.

A quarter century.

May well come down to the Willy B showdown for a bowl game.

Yup.

It wont be boring that's for sure with two teams playing for pride and little else.

Both have horrible OLs.

But the Coots have a QB that can actually make some plays.

Used to feel better about our chances with our D but our D breaks down 2-3 plays a game that give up TDs, and with our anemic offense that’s all it will take Carolina to beat us.

Rivalries are so "all bets off"

Oct 29, 2023, 11:24 AM

it's hard to say. My Horns got a taste of that against OU a few weeks ago - pure lunacy from start to finish.

BUT, in a rivalry game between a bad SEC team and a bad ACC team, Im gonna take the bad SEC team for the reasons you mentioned.
