As I posted in another thread, he likes Clemson but being in the ACC was a huge negative to him. Says even though you are an ACC school you still try.

If he makes his decision based on a conference he is too stupid to succeed at Clemson.

Why don't you compare what the kid is talking about? SEC to the NFL draftees versus all other conferences? It's not even close. He wants to play against the best. Whom knows, he could always change his mind.

I wouldn’t exactly call what TN has done the last 24 years (with exception of last year) actually playing in the SEC……More like placeholding 4th at best in your own division (which was pretty crappy until GA the last 3 years). Pretty pathetic overall. Cmon TN, should be better than the Chickens, they have nothing, and I do mean nothing, to brag about except that they supposedly play in the SEC. If that’s all you got, better to just stay quiet.

MORE CLEMSON PLAYERS GOT DRAFTED TO THE NFL THAN VOLUNTEER PLAYERS LAST YEAR.
It doesn’t matter what conference you’re in… if you got talent and can play the scouts will notice you.
If he really wants to get drafted from the SEC he needs to go to Jawja or Bammer or LSU, not Tennersee. Those are the teams that are stocking the NFL. Heck, Pittsburgh from the ACC EVEN HAD MORE NFL DRAFT PICKS IN 2023 THAN TENNERSEE.
So stop with the conference crap.

True, but it’s the powers that be that push SEC on recruits. They are told that to play in the NFL you HAVE to play in the SEC and that’s silly for anyone with any sense because players come from everywhere and I’ve never seen a QB in the SEC that’s better than Trevor Lawrence as a prospect and don’t give me Joe Burrow as an argument. Burrow came in with better talent surrounding him and no Urban Meyer.
I don’t care what NFL scouts think because they took Mayfield first and better prospects like Mahome and Josh Allen went later. Allen was punished for play at Wyoming and Mahome for a Texas Tech career which has placed zero QBs in the league after throwing for tons of yardage in college.
It’s a myth.

Yeah the NFL scouts look at the SEC “club” like a self perpetuating small town civic club membership committee!

You play for a school.
By my calculations, the Vols had one year in the past decade that they put more players in the NFL than Clemson.
And I do think UT has a few great games on the schedule this year…Bama, UGA…but they still have plenty of weak opponents. Austin Peay, San Antonio, UConn, Vandy, UVA. Plenty of opponents that are in the bottom tier of college football.
Bottom line…if he likes Clemson, I think it would be a mistake to choose a different school because of the conference. But best of luck to him if he does.

I hope they take UTSA lightly next year because if they’re not serious Sam Antonio is a tough out. I realize they don’t play anyone significant but they have one of the most impressive coaches in college that I’ve seen lately. He’s only been a head coach but he’s won 7, 12 and 11 games the past 3 seasons. It’s too bad he’s already 55 years old because he could be outstanding. He was an east Texas HS coach for a long time and won a bunch of titles and was an assistant a few years in college before getting this head job.

recruiting. Trading the SEC for one of the top five programs in the nation makes absolutely no sense unless you're an SEC-sleaze pumper. Especially a school that is actively being punished for multiple cheating infractions, but no playoff appearances...

You guys still handing out money in McDonalds bags? The TN program is trash and it will take more than wins to bring any level of respect back to it. As far as Matthews goes if you get him fine I am truly happy for you as he will be a good player, but Clemson does not need him to make or break its class. I hope that one day TN will be able to recruit based on its performance and not on shady money deals. Not saying that is what happened here but the specter always looms when you have set that standard for your program.

Think he was always a lean to UT. But keep in mind he hasn’t signed. Even with a somewhat week schedule, there’s a good chance UT loses 3 regular season games this fall. We’ll see if he sticks with his commitment. UT definitely takes a step back offensively this year.

UT took cheating to another level. If he doesn't like the ACC, why not choose another school that is not running a majorly tarnished program?

Most top players are black and most blacks live in the south. Congratulations on being near large black populations such as Mississippi, Louisiana and other southern states. It’s really that simple for SEC dominance. Plus, academics. Only Vandy gives a rip about that and just look at their success. Wow, what a joke. Georgia Tech is one of the very best schools in the entire country and left that conference because of academics and the unconcern for the books by other SEC schools and therefore they’re one of the most hated schools by other SEC schools to this very day.
Sadly, because of pressure, my good school is selling out and joining the cheaters and low life’s of the SEC. I’m not that happy about it other than the help it’s bringing in recruiting, but we haven’t even won in the Lousy Big 12 thanks to Mack Brown and that’s a long story and involves a billionaire having lunch with Mack and good ole boy Mack blowing a gasket after the billionaire suggested that Mack resign so we could hire Saban. This is all true and you can find most of it online However, the billionaire was Tom Hicks and his brother posts on a behind the scenes members only by invitation free site that I belong to and confirmed every bit of it.
