He is a proud, no nonsense old school coach but not sure he is their answer. At least he's been around the league for some while and will have more resources, however, his offense are worse than Jimbos...UKs offense have stink all but maybe one season. He plays very, very slow and is a defense first, try not to lose a lead guy.
That may change with some better talent but the fired Jimbo for going7-5 and they hired a 7-5 guy.... Who got his head coach start as a assistant under Jimbo... So they directly hired from Jimbos tree.

Not a bad hire if you let it sink in for a few mins. Who else would they have hired that understands the SEC and has a roster that is loaded.

This feels like they swung and missed on several other big time candidates and settled for Stoops. Similar to Tanner settling for Muschamp, after missing on Herman, Smart, RichRod and the head coach of a couple of big time high schools.
Stoops is a solid coach, but do you really pay Jimbo $80m to disappear just to hire him?

Maybe it's just the lack of players at UK and he will open things up a bit at A&M with better players, but their passing game is nonexistent almost every year.

I think it's more his DNA than anything as he hired several different OCs.. 5 maybe. Tried to open it up but it never worked. If I'm remembering correctly, he has had only one team finish with more than 400 yards offense and that was the Levis team a few yrs back. Most years it's 100 + in the rankings... Including probably his best ur ever im 2018.
He's a good football coach but just not sure A&M has and lote guy... But fans will like him, likable guy.

Wouldn’t be the first time A&M hired a football coach from UK.
That guy did pretty doggone good the rest of his career.
