Purdue lost to Ohio State
Virginia Lost to Virginia Tech
South Carolina lost to LSU
North Carolina lost to Syracuse
Losing games you aren’t expected to isn’t a Clemson problem. It’s college basketball.

A few months ago, some analysts had us as a 3 seed. Now we're projected as a 5/6 seed. If we keep losing games we shouldn't, there's a good chance we won't make it.

That means they have all been more consistent than us. If we were as consistent as they are we would be in the top 25. You’re the one acting like you don’t know how this works and gaslighting everyone else in the process. I would tell you to educate yourself but you already knew this. Hopefully this team can overcome their mediocre head coach and finish strong.

I don’t think any rational fan is shocked we lost to NC state. Or GT. It fits the narrative of the staff. The bigger question should be are we good enough to rebound and win down the stretch?Brad has proven that’s not likely. Weird that you can’t accept that. Even weirder you were laughing at criticism before the Nc state game then disappeared.

Not defending either side here I promise but I will say one thing to that. I went to both games last week and the crowd was an absolute joke. A laughing stock. There is something to be said for why other teams play so much better at home but we don’t and I genuinely think our lack of fan support (noise) has to do with that. By saying that I’m not getting into this argument about whether we should support Brownell or not. Just simply saying our home court advantage sucks and that’s an understatement. Girard himself both games last week had to pump up the crowd multiple times along with coach. That’s sad. Now, again, maybe it’s because people have just grown tired of the brownell era and that’s understandable but it is what it is

The point about there being a bunch of upsets this week (and every week) in college basketball is for those fans who lose their minds because we “lose a game we shouldn’t.”
It’s basketball, it’s going to happen.

Losing is losing. Of course it’s part of the sport.
You know what else is “going to happen” with Brownell? What does he have a good track record of? Losing close games and big games. Yo good coaches.
Top teams like Purdue lose to a good team like Ohio State, but they also only have 3 losses.
But you are sitting here, acting as is our loss to NC State is comparable to Purdue losing to Ohio State. They are 2 completely different situations.
It’s not like Clemson went out and lolligagged, Purdue kind of did.
Every single game is the same thing over and over. It’s like a replay in my head. Comes down to the last 3 minutes, and you hope to the Lord that we can defend some miraculous shot that they will make. Or make our free throws.
I mean, when are you going to realize that things are going to be consistently better elsewhere? You’re apart of the group that thinks a win in Chapel Hill this year does him justice for life. Undermining our potential as a basketball program.

Ohio State is having a bad year, so bad that they just fired their coach mid-season.
NC State is a solid mid-pack ACC team that is much better than Ohio State.
Purdue’s loss is worse, but you wouldn’t know it here because our own “fans” make excuses for Purdue’s loss and pile on Clemson as if our loss is horrendous.

No doubt college basketball is more of a grind than college football. So by design a single loss or two or three or five wont necessarily derail a season.
But it does not exclude the idea that a team can be maddeningly inconsistent.
It's that they seem to get so close to turning a corner, and then the wheels shoot off and they go careening into the ditch.
I still enjoy the team and want them to win; but I'd be lying to say watching them is often a relaxing, satisfying experience.
Maybe that's the case for alot of high-calibre teams, too. I dunno.

Every team knows exactly what their opponent will be doing and the team that does it best will win. Basketball is a great game that will never be figured out

Since 2010, the average winning percentage for a team favored going into their respective game is 71.32%. If we condition on the school being favored at home, the average across all 362 college basketball schools is 74.3%. Clemson is in the 54th percentile among all 362 schools with a 185-69 (72.8%) record during that time as a favored school. And as a home favorite, Clemson is in the 68th percentile among these schools with a 127-33 (79.4%) record.
Among Power 5 schools, this does not hold though. The average winning percentage as a favored school going into the respective game since 2010 is 77.1%, and the winning percentage as a home favorite is 82.04%. Among Power 5 schools, Clemson is in the 10th percentile in winning percentage as a favored school and the 26th percentile in winning percentage when favored at home.
Fun fact: Since 2010, South Carolina is tied with Oregon State for the worst winning percentage as a favored school among Power 5 schools.

Educate yourself - Clemson is 12th in the ACC and 219th nationally in win percentage as a favorite this season. Plucking select games out of the air doesn’t prove your case. And expanding the search over Brownell’s tenure does not get prettier. It’s not a college basketball thing - it’s a Brad Brownell thing.
