Man, I had no idea

Oct 15, 2021, 1:41 PM

That Dabo has given out so many scholarships to walk on’s and coaches kids. I’m glad I’ve read it 24,000 times on this board and Twitter this week. Thanks for keeping us all informed.

All of those are not given yearly scholarships. Dabo gives

out additional scholarships for the current season, if available. No guarantees for those players remaining eligibility. You have to remember the Covid effect is also still in play.

ESPN is on it

"Clemson has more than a half-dozen former walk-ons on scholarship now, too, including two of Swinney's sons."

None of that is new news.***

Never understood why Swinney gives 2 valuable svhollys

to sons when he can clearly pay their way and save those for 2 better players in positions of need.

That's a valid question. I don't think any coach's kids should get scholarships. The coaches are paid much more than most people, and it would send a better message if they paid their kids' way. It's almost like double-dipping on the university.

But, I don't think freeing up those scholarships would change anything about our 3-2 start, just like having those kids on scholarship didn't impact our success.

Who and why? (And defend position by what was known at the time, not with benefit of hindsight). And, speak loudly; I have a hard time hearing due to the screaming and celebrations of our regular season wins, conference titles, bowl championships, and national championships over the last five years under The Dabo Way!!

The ESPN article is exactly what I have been saying for weeks. DJU in no Lawrence/Watson, our backs are not Etienne, our receivers are so insignificant that nobody knows their names yet except for Ross, and the offensive line is a work in progress. Giving a scholarship here or there for a transfer cannot transform the team overnight. When a team has an many injuries as we have had this affects everything.
Trust the process and lets see if the players say enough is enough tonight.
