Give me the defensive game plan for LSU

Lots of variation here. A plan can also incorporate a change of plans within the game. Like you could predict we play soft coverage in the first half, and then switch to blitzing paired with man coverage and leaving our corners on islands. Being aggressive works a lot better with a lead. Prsssure on them to push the ball down field and get chunk plays for lack of time. Where the majority of turnovers are forced in this sport.
Negativity against Nussmeier is warranted, not only because we are playing him, but because of his “overrated status”. But as Cade Klubnik has shown, progression happens all the time. Enormously over the off-season. And even more for certain players. We’ve seen that happen. He is at the top of the odds list for the Heisman. Preseason is Jack, but I don’t think they just do that without reason.
My plan: Lots of Nickel coverage. Which is replacing a Linebacker with a 5th Defensive back. This is what Isaiah Simmons was by the way. He played the role as a defensive back replacing the LB. That’s why it worked so well. Lots of Cover 2 and Cover 2 zone blitzes because I’m sure they will try to drive methodically with underneath passing.
,I say blitz all game but use zone blitzes and man blitzes. Consistently with non blitzes mixed in. Obviously because of what kind of QB Nussmeier is, along with what his injury is.

I think you have to go look at Pennie’s States defense last year. Then look at our personnel to determine the best foot forward. I do believe we need to move Nuss off his spot. He can run but not like Cade. Personally I like an attacking defense trying to dictate what happens. Go Tigers!

Our defense will play madden style and run a punt block every single down…
Nice try on the long con ROYBus, but you can’t pull one over on us! Can’t believe you’ve been on here for 3 years just to get our keyboard coaches to hand out our game plan. Smart move joining a mere 4 years after the series was announced, long enough not to draw suspicion but enough time to attempt to gain our trust and gift you our playbook

We have to get pressure with four. Their receivers can beat you deep and beat you underneath. Blitzing someone is a big big gamble in this game if you don’t get to the QB.
If our front four dominate, it will be a long night for LSwho

Yes it is simple . If we can’t get pressure with front 4 then we are toast . The LSU receivers will light up our secondary . It is scary because we failed to get any pressure last year with our front 4 .

More picking fun than anything. Your big brain post that consisted of just about every basic defensive possibility has to be right at some point. Sure we’ll play some cover 2, sure we’ll blitz, sure we’ll show blitz and then back out. Everyone runs a Nickle or Star position in today’s game. I’m leaving out a handful of your predictions but that pretty much sums it up.

I’m making perfect sense. Instead of blurting out 10 different random formations trying to sound smart let’s try and be more specific next time. Only 6 huh? Guess that would mean I’m new to the site. Again, not picking a fight. I just thought your post was comical.

Test his knee. See if he's healthy, see if he can scramble, don't give him time to find open receivers.

I don’t see us winning this game and I think we get blown out. Everyone talks about our D line like they’re the power rangers but they haven’t done #### at Clemson and our pass rush last year was mediocre. LSU WRs will put the burners on and torch our secondary. I really hope I’m wrong and our tigers come out on top.

You aren’t wrong , our pass Rush was non existent last year ! Avion Terrell was an automatic 15 yards every time they threw his way . This is not a good matchup unless the front 4 can dictate the line of scrimmage up front . Talk is cheap and we did not generate any pressure all year or stop the run last year . LSU is loaded with 5 star talent and speed to expose us and our lack of any functional depth also.

go through his reads or move off his spot, he struggles. False pre snap reads and pressure from different spots to confuse their QB and relatively new offensive line.

Nussmeier has negative rushing yards for his entire LSU career… If we can get consistent pressure and hit him (sacks or just pressure will be enough)..we’ll be fine… He’s a pocket passer and a good one …disrupt him and it’s a long night for LSU..don’t and it’s a long night for us…

I would prioritize middle pressure. Our DTs should provide some by themselves but some well timed stunts and middle blitzes will help. Move Nuss on those bad knees and force off-platform throws.
I expect we’ll see a ton of screens so we’ll have to tackle well on those.
Any way you slice it this will be a very tough game.

Make the LSU QB fully aware of two groups of stars.
1
Aug 16, 2025, 2:24 AM
|
|
First let him hard enough for him to see the stars rotating around his head then knock him on his backside so often he sees him the stars in the heavens. Keep him looking up long enough to see the stars in the heavens move like those circling his head.
On offense, if the defense works right, kick a FG and win by 3.
I know, I got this football coaching thing downpat.

Eat the running game alive. If they can't run the ball effectively then they are toast , and the same could be said for the home Tigers. We need to beat them up front on the OL and DL . That's what I think is the most important aspect of this game. Stop the run. Make the passing game predictable.

I say blitz all game but use zone blitzes and man blitzes. Consistently with non blitzes mixed in. Obviously because of what kind of QB Nussmeier is, along with what his injury is.
Blitz, but don’t blitz. But when you do blitz, do it consistently. But blitz all game. And use zone blitzes, but use man blitzes.

I have no idea what’s gonna happen, but with the depth we have at D tackle, I like our ability to stop their run in the second half.
If they are starting a 6-1, 270 pound D tackle, Bernard Gooden, then I like our ability to run on them in the second half.
Burley, Green and Adams gonna have some fun while PWoo and DeMonte taking a rest.
