Never Looking Back: The transformation of Jake Venables
Following Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney’s high school camp in June of 2015, a picture of Venables made its way to Scott Littlejohn, the director of Flight School, a sports performance training school in Anderson. Littlejohn texted the picture over to Venables, who had one reaction: give that kid a sandwich. Full Story » |

Couldn't you have found a picture of the poor kid that doesn't have him shirtless in front of the words "I love my hubby"

On a brighter note: here's to hoping Jake turns out to be a hidden gem for us. The Hunter Renfrow of the defense. (Obviously he's not a walk on.. Just... You know what I mean). He is a Venebles after all; I'm sure it's all there for him in a cerebral sense. Maybe some Ben Boulware has rubbed of onto him too ??

Great article. I can't imagine the pressure of being Brent's son. Hope he's able to somehow ignore most of that. He is his own person.

It's a good illustration of what kids like a Brent Venables son put their selves through just to be the man. There isn't any doubt that being coach Venables son adds a lot of pressure to the kid to be 'that LB for his dad. I don't envy him, and I'm glad that it isn't me. But, being BV's son, I'm sure that BV is keeping a close eye to ensure that his son knows that what his does should always be for himself and none of it for dad bc he would love him the same if had never picked up a FB. I mean, I'm sure all of us has seen at some point, a kid will put their selves through those rigors for the wrong reasons. I think that most of us would agree that becoming a special athlete should be only for self satisfaction, and for no other reason!!!

I love the end where he talks about other recruits that will be joining the team! The Dabo recruiting machine really is a thing of dreams. I can't believe it's happening in my lifetime!

Me either TN 2000. Me either. Really he's transforming Clemson. We all knew Clemson was the best but now the whole world is seeing it.
