Absolutely!!! IMHO, what Mac said was the absolute truth about the mess our offensive line has become but, it just isn't the O Line that has a major problem bc it seems that catching perfectly thrown balls is a major problem also.

IMHO, if Dabo doesn't make major coaching changes at the end of this season, next season will be a repeat of this season, and it will be sad for the players that expect their HC to hire quality position coaches that are capable of making them into better players than they were when they signed to play FB at Clemson. Players that come to Clemson expect to be coached by a top-level coaching staff that Clemson hasn't had in a while!!!

Good analysis. Plus, I agree about the run game. It’s not that we can’t run. It’s that we don’t run. We’re not serious about a run game. Don’t attack the right spots, not called at the right time, unimaginative. Been that way long before GR so not gonna blame him.

So, if he says the OL is terrible, what makes you think that we would benefit from doing more of the thing they do the worst? They can't pass protect and they can't run block. In short, they are terrible.

9/10 of the run plays are straight up the middle, and if we throw incomplete on first down, you can bet the farm the next play is a 50 dive (or whatever we call it). A big problem with our OL is their blocking scheme. They block the wrong guys too often. Plus we seldom attack the edge. Why not run a 2 back set once in a while, or maybe an extra tight end, or God forbid put somebody in motion. There are so many ways to have an effective run game even if the line is not as good we would like. Our vanilla approach ain’t it.

I'd run some of the younger linemen out there and some of the younger running backs out there and see how we do. I expect it will actually be worse because OL takes a while to develop but at least they'll be getting good experience for next year. Maybe they will at least play hard.

I think it was against Syracuse that I saw the entire O-line try to cut block and all they did was fall down in front of the defenders - no contact at all. I was absoluely flabbergasted. HS players block better than that.

I see that Eric saw the same thing by one OL during the SMU game.

That's on Luke - and Dabo. This didn't just start in the past 3 weeks. They should have seen the lackadaisical play pre-season and corrected it.... but instead, they were busy reading press clippings, eating rat poison and drinking orange KoolAid.

It's a disgusting thing for me to witness.

If there’s anyone on this board that can get Dabo’s ear please mention it to him.

I watch highlights of other college games and I see dynamic offensive plays being made and I don't understand. We have just as much talent, if not more, than some of these other schools but it doesn't look like it during the game. How much do you have to do to be creative in football? How much to just be stable? I can't attribute our teams play to the ills of NIL because every other team has the same burden of proof! SMU, Louisville, Frickin Vandy????? Are you telling me that all these schools are just paying their guys more and that's how they are getting enhanced performance from them? Diego Pavia wasn't a 4 Star.... Not talent, not NIL....gotta be something up with the coaching approach. We have the same personel that we had last year when we were scoring 40+ a game......

Last year the Tigers averaged 34.7 against everyone and a tad above 19 against our five toughest opponents. SMU was the only good team we did well against. We scored 15.5 per game in our four losses. Conclusion? The offense was not all that great.

I agree with most of Eric's commentary though I'm not sold on Vizzina as our future at all. Yeah, probably not a bad outing by him in his first start, but he ain't quick with his feet folks. There are times the QB HAS to be able to make plays with his feet, especially against the better defenses. From what I saw, Vizzina isn't running away from anyone and he isn't making anyone miss a tackle. So while we can win some with him at the helm, we're also going to lose some too solely because of his lack of escapability.

Yes Riley makes quite a few head scratching calls per game (like jumbo package on 4th and 1), but this o-line is horrible. You can't establish a run when you running back is being met deep in the backfield. Time after time, SMU ran the same twist and we never adjusted.

I'm not saying Riley should stay, but he's not the root of the problem.

I am all about the disconnect. What I see is 5 different teams on the field.
1.Offensive skill postion team.
2.Offensive line
3.Defensive Line
4.Linebackers
5.Secondary

The play of the team screams of a coaching disconnect because the postion groups play that way. When you see things like a running back trip an offensive lineman resulting in a qb sack because he is paying no attention to the OL and is just playing for the offensive skill postion of running this way and making the cut.

They ought to take everyone on the back field in practice and make them be an OL being run over. Then take an OL and make him be the unprotected QB running for his slow miserable life. Give each other a taste of what the other positions need to be successful.

Take a QB and make him be a wideout with a ball thrown with far too much heat to catch it or thrown in a place where the WO is going to get clobbered because of poor placement....let them know how it feels.
