Most projections that have us climbing back up the ACC rankings also have Wake losing this game. Would be helpful if Pitt could pull it out.

Seems like a catch 22

Definitely pulling for Pitt considering...

But then a Wake loss will only continue to pull the whole conference down. Pitt not making the tourney but. Wake has a solid chance. If Clemson isn't playing tourney teams within league play (Outside Duke, NC) does that bring our own metrics down? This new age system is tiresome.

Pitt is a quad 1 win for us. It would be good for them to stay in the top 75.

I don’t think our ACC standing is going to matter to the committee.

They absolutely look at conference record and ranking. If you mean you think we’re going to finish well enough that it won’t matter - fine. But if we finish 8th in the ACC we’re not going to make the tourney.

I disagree. We were 3rd last year and it wasn’t enough to outweigh the quad 4 debacle. If we finish top 40 in NET and mid-pack in conference, we will be in.

We also are the team that has been left out of the tourney with best NET and RPIs all time. Obviously the unbalanced schedule would allow more wiggle room. But they left UNC out last year with similarly good (to ours this year) NET numbers. And that’s a blue blood. Since 1985 I only see two instances where the tournament has skipped more than one position in the ACC rankings.

Wake has had a tough run, we’ve beaten them about 80% of the time recently. That alone would question their success.

Uncharted territory for a “big four” team.
