2l loss SEC teams

Nov 23, 2022, 6:07 AM

I can’t recall 2 teams with 2 losses ever being ranked so high and over a Power 5 team with 1 loss to a ranked opponent. This is the committee setting a precedent that an SEC team with 2 losses is considered better than an ACC team with one loss, ensuring 2 loss SEC teams will be seeded higher in future playoffs. ACC teams will always have to go undefeated to get a high seed.

Not necessarily

Just don’t get blown out in your loss and run up the score every time you can. I know Dabo says he’s just looking to win by one point, but I have to think that’s just coaches speak

Yea. The magnitude of our loss to ND is hurting. We have been ranked higher with 1 loss to an ACC opponent in prior years.

Yeah our 1 loss to a now ranked team on the road is considered worse than 2 losses. One team even loss to a team we beat on the road.

Win out and we jump Bama. Then we have to see what else happens. A 1 loss Conference Championship Game winner has not been left out over a conf championship looser. Only once non champ 2018 Notre Dame beat out 1 loss Ohio St.

LSU also has a blow out loss by the same team that just

got blew out by a bottom feeder. Plus they lost to a common opponent that we beat. Fair is fair until it isn't.

As long as Clemson wins-out...

the rest will take care of itself.

A 2 loss non-championship game participant will not stay ranked ahead of a 12-1 ACC champion. Not gonna happen IMO.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

why does it matter??......

Nov 23, 2022, 8:09 AM

as long as Clemson wins and UGA wins Clemson would jump both bama and LSU.

If Clemson doesn't wanna be viewed liked the committee is viewing them then well..............PLAY BETTER!!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

It's clearly not a matter of simply playing better.

As previous polls have demonstrated, Clemson narrowly wins a game where they are favored and drops in the polls. That certainly didn't happen to Michigan, Ohio State or TCU this past weekend.

Having 2-3 “hiccup” games/close games is one thing. We had that in our 2015-2019 runs but we showed some ounce of domination in at least 7-8 of the other games.

We’ve played with fire/close in seemingly every game and haven’t played a “complete” game in any of our 11 games so far. But again, if we just win then we’ll jump LSU and Bama anyway so it’s a moot point (assuming UGA beats LSU)

Not saying that there isn’t some SEC bias in it, there always has been and that’s not changing.

the precedent being set is that a 2 loss SEC team is better than a 1 loss ACC team, and an ACC team has to go undefeated to get in. An SEC team can possibly get in with 2 losses. However, an ACC is eliminated after one loss.

2024 white level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

yes, a 2 loss SEC champ gets in.....

Nov 23, 2022, 10:17 AM

it's always been that way it just hasn't happened yet. It's been discussed by the talking heads and/or the committee every single year.

If LSU beats #1 Georgia they get in.......simple. If they don't then they won't get in over a 1 loss ACC team. We've gotten in with 1 loss 3x
