This is great ... after all these years of Disney's boring high and mighty stuff, they've finally reverted to an enterprise which gives us all some good laughs again.

On a short break ... during these long daylight times the orange jumpsuit / pick up beer cans lead to much longer days at work. Ready for winter go get here.
To the topic:
So you guys who are laughing that the lawsuit was not 'from Disney' but instead from 3 FL citizens who had filed a law suit against State of FL ... a lawsuit that 'just circumstantially' was exactly what Disney wants.
Some of you guys must have been borne yesterday ... welcome to planet Earth!
Don't you guys know that it's a common tactic for a big corporation to encourage citizens to file lawsuits which happen to serve the big corporation's agenda? Think that it would be hard to find FL citizens who benefit in some way from the Disney's presence in Florida? The citizens would not have to be employees of Disney. They could work for a company that does a lot of business with Disney. They could be citizens who love Disney's political activism.
At the end of the day, Disney was served by the private citizens who filed the lawsuit, and you can bet your rear end that Disney was following this lawsuit like a pervert follows little kids to the bathroom.
Disney lost again ... it's just another episode from Disney's new entertainment programming.
OK, break is over ... got more beer cans to pick up.

Y'all don't realize what just got revealed.
As most of us who actually read articles and do research and possess reading comprehension have long suspected, y'all's type are:
1. Easily duped by fringe media that knows how to trick you into sharing their stuff and believing a narrative.
2. They know that you are easily duped, so they put in misleading headlines and shred information in the lead.
Daily Wire does this here knowing you all will naively think this means DeSantis defeated Disney in court. They bury the actual lawsuit information well past any point y'all would read.
Thus, Tom, the man who pretends to be against authoritarianism but actually celebrates it, gleefully and foolishly posts it. Mountaineers comes in with his usual herpderpderp, and you spout off some usual nonsense.
All because y'all didn't read it. You fell for it. This lawsuit wasn't a loss for Disney. It was a frivolous suit filed by three people trying to make an easy buck.
But the joke is watching you three get duped by fringe right wing media that, through many focus studios, knows how gullible their audience is.

Quote as to part of the reason why the FL judge threw out the 3 plaintiff's lawsuit against state of FL.
“It is without question that defendant Governor DeSantis intended to punish Disney for a 1st Amendment protected ground of free speech,” the lawsuit says. “Defendant’s violation of Disney’s 1st Amendment rights, directly resulted in a violation of plaintiffs’ 14th Amendment rights to due process of law.”
The judge ruled quickly that this, among numerous other reasons, rendered their claim to damages as invalid.
Miami based attorney William Sanchez represented the plaintiffs; he's a former DOJ attorney.
Sanchez is no Atticus Finch; he's a big timer. Anyone wonder why this big timer would take such a weak case from the plaitiffs? Anyone wonder why such an expensive attorney would be hired by 3 central Florida regular folks? Anyone wonder who is helping to pay for the plantiffs' suit?
OK kiddies, any wonder why the 3 'random citizens' used the lawsuit to make a public statement about Disney being 'punished' / violation of 14th amendment?
I'll spell it out to you again. Disney, like most giant corporations, have 'proxies' which make a ruckus on behalf of the big corporation. These proxies of the big corporations serve as one of many weapons to attack their enemies.
You guys aren't such hopeless country bumpkins / rubes to not know how this works. Therefore, I figure that your argumentative tactics are simply a desperate deflection as you whistle past another loss for an owner of a lefty-slanted media outlet.

The only case that matters is the one involving the debt obligation. When that comes back from the judge, then you can take your victory lap.

True indeed oh_its_JimmyHEYHEY® ... Hammer meets Nail as far as your grand summary being spot on.
But the war is a series of many battles (some small battles, some large battles).
The OP's post said (in effect) that Disney lost a battle, and DeSantis won the battle. The OP was correct in this context.
(BTW, I do appreciate your smart posts. It does sadden me that some of the others who contributed to this string resort to childish defense tactics, accusing their 'opponents' of being stupid when in fact these guys didn't do their homework before mouthing off. To your credit, you're better than that. Again, I appreciate your thoughts and insights.)

The only folks I have a personal grudge against are those that have exposed themselves on here as blackhearts because that transcends politics. They are just not good people.
Otherwise, political disagreements are political disagreements. Even the stupidly reasoned ones. No reason to let that get in the way of future beers.
Anyways, returning from the bro-ment, my sole disagreement here is not that it wasn't a "win," but that I see it as completely valueless. Even in some sort of escalating battle, I see this case as having no broader impact or meaning. It is a fart in the wind.

Had they, they would realize this wasn't a suit of Disney vs. DeSantis but three private citizens trying to make a quick buck. Clemson mountaineers is exceptionally inept and lacking reading/critical thinking skills in this one.
From the article:
The complaint dismissed by U.S. District Court Judge Cecilia Altonaga originated from three residents of Orange and Osceola counties who claimed S.B. 4-C unconstitutionally threatened residents with higher taxes and abridged free speech rights, Fox Business noted.
The plaintiffs “do not plausibly allege they have suffered any concrete injury as a result of the alleged violation of Disney’s First Amendment rights, and nothing in the Complaint shows Plaintiffs have a close relationship with Disney,” Altonaga wrote, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
SB 4-C “does not apply to them, they do not allege direct harm as a result of the challenged law, and they do not plausibly allege any credible threat of direct harm in the future,” Altonaga added.
Oops. Learn to read, kids.

A lawsuit was filed and catahoula hoped they would win.
They did not.
Catahoula must be disappointed, but he's trying to act like he is not. Embarrassing.

Hey quozell,
Can you tell me More about how trump is a Russian agent?
Or how about the alpha bank hoax?
What about trump ordering the tear gassing peaceful protesters for a photo op?
The list could go on and on. You have 0 room for criticizing others on this issue.
The fact of the matter is that you and catahoula hate Desantis. He triggers you both almost as much as trump. You both are disappointed that Desantis didnt get sued, no matter how much you deflect or say you don't care.

Nice spin. I didn't hope anyone would win because I didn't even know this thing existed. You got duped into thinking it was Disney who filed it when it was really just three randos.
You completely owned yourself in this article and prove that you don't actually take the time to read anything. You just believe what they feed you in the headers.
I think it's safe to say that you read nothing at all during the day, not even the right-wing sites that confirm your bias. You just skim headlines.
It really is not hard to read a ####### article. It's something a 6th grader could do.

May 12, 2022, 1:36 PM

is a win, or if I said, "I bet T3Tiger can't fold himself into himself 13 times."
The entire critical body of this thread is not that it is or isn't a "win," but that the "win" is a ridiculous thing for the DeSantinistas to hang their hat on given a) nobody knew about the suit in the first place, b) nobody reading the facts would have assumed it had any chance of prevailing, and c) the suit itself did not pertain to the real legal question that has yet to go in front of a judge, and even if it did, the lack of standing by the plaintiffs would not have allowed those facts to be decided anyways.
So, to reiterate, take the win if you need it that badly.
