Looks like Kiffin is gone after SEC championship

Dec 2, 2016, 10:51 AM

Our path might've just gotten a little easier if we win tomorrow

Amazed he and Nicky lasted as long as they did actually

After Raiders, Tennessee, and USC burnouts, risky move.

Dec 2, 2016, 10:55 AM

He seems much better as a coordinator where he doesn't have to face the media every day.

His childish, petulant response (or lack of a response) to media questions he didn't like in the last days of his USC gig should tell an AD that he isn't mature enough to be a head coach.

Maybe he has changed, but I would be skeptical.

The highest paid Offensive Coordinator in History at LSU.

Ahh, OK, I thought rumor was for Houston head coach job.

A little help? Where's he going? all i see is him and

Miles being interviewed at Houston. Is there something more newsworthy that I've missed? Seems like you might've put that in your original message . . .

LSU offensive coordinator

slash head coach in waiting (let's be real, they're going to fire Orgeron in less than two years). The deal will probably be finalized over the weekend. I think it's presumptive to think he won't coach in the playoffs though, Smart did.

Thanks for the info. +1***

Rumors were to OC at LSU, or HC at Oregon

Dec 2, 2016, 11:03 AM [ in reply to A little help? Where's he going? all i see is him and ]

So either working for Orgeron, or coaching at Oregon

I doubt he leaves before the playoffs.

Brad Brownell: more losses than any other coach in school history.

If he takes the OC gig at LSU he might stick around

Dec 2, 2016, 11:05 AM

for the playoffs, but he's also emerged as a leading candidate for the Houston HC job. If he takes that i bet he leaves Bama immediately. You don't just take a HC job and then wait over a month to start.

Good point. So far Kirby Smart isn't a shining example of

anything though.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He's a good case for NOT hanging around, if first year

Kirby Smart did it last year in the exact same situation.

Dec 2, 2016, 11:25 AM

Not at all same situation, only same time of year, if he's going to lsu, no way he's at Bama for playoffs. Not only staying in same conf, same division

I was obviously talking about him talking an JC job.

No way Saban's ego lets him stay after a lateral move***

Kirby Smart and Tom Herman stayed at their schools until the playoffs were over before going to their new teams.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Probably right, but if he delays

Dec 2, 2016, 11:10 AM [ in reply to Re: Looks like Kiffin is gone after SEC championship ]

and is looking at a HC job, will miss prime recruiting time

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Most of that time is a dead period.

Dec 2, 2016, 11:13 AM

More important to put a staff together which he can do from anywhere. Plus there is a good bit of time off, you don't get unlimited practices for the playoffs.

Dec 2, 2016, 12:16 PM [ in reply to Re: Looks like Kiffin is gone after SEC championship ]

He'd have to. It'd be foolish for him to take an HC job and not report till a month before signing day.

What happens to

Joey Freshwater? Does he stay with Roll Tide or follow Kiffen?

would rather beat them at their best. No excuses then.

Which of our wins do you discount this year due to excuses?

Dec 2, 2016, 11:40 AM

I've never discounted any win for any excuse.

I was referring to the other team. I don't want to hear, "you only won because so-so was hurt or we didn't have our OC" etc.

coaches leaving/negotiating before season ends....

Dec 2, 2016, 11:42 AM

with the talk of Lane Kiffen leaving Alabama before the playoffs start, it has got me to thinking about my hatred for that kind of stuff happening. I understand that business is business but it is completely unfair to the KIDS in the program for coaches to jump ship before the season ends. I think it should be against the rules to start contract negotiations and interviews before your season is complete. Obviously, I want to beat bama and want every competitive advantage neccesary to do so, but i think its completely unfair to the players on the team for coaches to jump ship before seasons end.

Just imagine if Brent Venables took a job before we start the playoffs in a few weeks. Where would that leave us?

Similarly, I feel exactly the same about the MLB draft taking place before college baseball season ends. I have seen many (kyle parker is one example) players who's performance has been effected by the distractions that take place when the draft happens.

Anyways, just some thoughts.

Go Tigers!

If he really cuts out on Saban before the end of the season

Dec 2, 2016, 3:03 PM

after Li'l Nicky rescued him off the scrap heap, he is every bit the schonofabisch everyone says he is.
