Coming off of the great effort and heartbreaking 4-3 loss to #11 Duke we head up to chapel Hill today to face a down UNC team.

North Carolina is 7-3 on the year and only ranked #48 which is their lowest ranking since 2012. They’ve been top 10 for many years but have fallen a bit recently.

They are coming off of a very close 4-3 win over #37 Georgia Tech on Friday after GT blew a 3rd set lead in the deciding match for a dramatic Tar Heel win.

This match is sort of a must win for us if we want to keep in touching distance for the NCAA tournament this year. A win would move us up to around #60 in the rankings while a loss would have us tumble out the top 75 entirely. (No plaudits for playing Duke close, the ita computer rankings are black and white about wins and losses.)

UNC projected singles lineup:

1. #67 Will Jansen, Sophomore. London,England
2. #99 Benjamin Kittay, Sophomore. Potomac,MD
3. #110 Phillip Jordan, Graduate. Spartanburg,SC /transfer from UC Santa Barbara
4. #65 Karl Poling, Graduate. Boise,ID /transfer from Princeton
5. Patrick Schoen, Freshman. Zollikon,Switzerland
6. Will Peters, Graduate. Duxbury,MA /transfer from Princeton

They still have 4 ranked players so still a talented team despite their results so far. Hopefully for us, Aronson and Pitts can keep playing well at 5 and 6 and we can get another inspired effort from our top two. 3-4 and doubles favors UNC.
