Cade in 2025. Am I the only one even slightly concerned?

Color me confused.
Dabo talks very confidently like Cade will be back next year. But, Cade has been asked very directly twice, after the last game and in the post game presser tonight, if he was coming back. He has declinded to say, "Yes" on both occasions. He did not say "No." But, on both occasions his answer clearly indicated "I haven't decided yet."

If he comes back we have to be a top 5 team going into the opener.

The ice berg in our defenses Titanic was DE opposite of TJ Parker

If a DL cannot set the (both) edge, then the defense overall will always be prone to disasters.
Unlike this year, in which deficiencies in the quality of a DE other than TJ Parker that could reliably set the other edge of our DL, there is a very good chance that our DE edge-setting problem will be fixed in 2025.
This hope isn’t simply based on Will Heldt’s arrival, but also on the age-improvement / greater-experience from among our slate of (let’s be candid … 2nd team quality) DEs I.e., J.Lawson, AJ Hoeffler, and C.Denhoff -and- redshirted Fr DE Mayo represent at least one other DE that is of true starter quality.
I’m betting that we’ll have at least two high quality other DEs to accompany existing star DE TJ Parker ready to shine at start of 2025 season.
If this bet pays off, then arguably our biggest impediment to setting the edge will be fixed.
While this won’t bring us back to 2021 sessin’svquality if defense, it will greatly improve our ability to stop the run. Solving our run defense crisis (and no isht it was a crisis in 2024) will make our overall defense far far better in 2025.

And especially if high enough grade he’s unlikely to improve it next year, he gone. And despite all of your/our objections to loyalty etc, he is always one snap away from his last one. I would miss him but wouldn’t blame him one bit. Selfishly I hope he’s back.

Well, I can't blame Cade believing they might go on a run because then he would be a threat to probably play his way into the 1st Rd talk.
Now, I think he comes back. Not guaranteed of course but I'd put confidence at 90% he's back for one more ride.

He played well tonight. Might be tired of being the whipping boy of incompetent playcalling and a fan base that expects video game production from the QB with no run game. This kid has yet to have a complete offense around him. Last year no OL or Wrs, this year no run game and his OL was beat up often.

There's absolutely something wrong with the play calling on short yardage situations. Clemson was stuffed at least 10 times this season on 4th and 1 or less plays.

Yea i disagree. They try to force things that this team is not good at and get cute way too often.
I like Riley but some times I wonder what the deal is with the red zone playcalling and short 3rd downs. Example flipping the ball out to mafah on 3rd and 2 knowing mafah can't lower his shoulder to fight through contact(that was several games btw)

Well, he’s not going to the NFL next year. Maybe Oregon will buy him? They can outbid us any day of the week.

Cade is pulling a Tommy Bowden and Arkie, playing NFL potential and getting paid more NIL. He deserves to be paid in relevance to the rest of this absurd NIL era.

I dont blame for not saying anything at that time. He wants to build suspense and prob. think things over. Hes NOT ready for NFL and no one will pay him more after July.

I think he’s back.
Get the feeling he’s not gonna want to go out that way and knows the offense can be one of, if not the best in the nation next year with what comes back.

He won’t get a high draft grade. Analysis I’ve read from draft talking heads is that his presnap recognition has improved, but post snap hasn’t for reading the defense. They also stll knock him on slow field processing. Then you still get the WTH panic passes when he’s 2 inches from the ground (as we saw again today). Finally, he needs more work in the weight room for leg and core strength. No way he’s ready for the NFL.

I am more worried about someone like Notre Dame offering him 8 figures to portal over than I am about him leaving for the draft. He needs another year to develop before he is ready for NFL game speed.

1) he is not ready for the NFL yet. 2). He loves Clemson and everything about it and is one of our greatest ambassadors.

CK2 has developed according to what reasonable people (this excludes the 2022 Cade Fan Boy Club members, who anticipated 2 or more Trophies for CK2) believed would happen.
Thus, as a Jr. QB, he was actually good at the start of the season and continued to improve to the point of being excellent at the end of the season.
There are still areas of improvement that, if CK2 achieves them, will elevate him to a truly elite QB.
This is nit-picking, but if high draft pick NFL aspirations are harbored by CK2, then he’ll need to get better in these areas which even the couch potatoes r3cognize.
(1). Faster recognition of whether primary target will be open or not (based upon the defense’s setup, anticipated direction of the WRs path before he gets to the spot).
(2). Quick refocus to secondary targets, and whether they are open.
(3). Quicken the release a bit more. CK2 has improved greatly in this area, but needs to be better to be a first or second round NFL pick.
(4). Further improvement re frequency of inexplicably bad throws on what should be easy completions.
He’s improved greatly; this is beautifully obvious. For his own good, another year of college seasoning would finish baking the cake.

He needs to improve his in-game decision making.
Dec 21, 2024, 10:36 PM

He has improved a good bit, but still has room to grow. End of coot game, throwing 2 yard crosser on 4th and 5 or 6, knowing when to run when there’s pressure coming, knowing when to take a sack and just protect the ball and not do some kinda superhuman throw away, etc.
He’s not NFL ready. And that’s ok.
