This is why I don't worry about commitment till these kids sign it means nothing to commit.

Not being a man of your word has been a serious issue in this country for years.

Yes it still means some thing. If you keep your word, you are a man of honor. If you don't keep it, you are a liar and will lye your way through life. Going back on your word= a piece of SH!T. And I do believe and mean that.

Do other schools go through this as well with kids decommitting all the time? Seems like it happens often with Clemson recruits.

It is a right of spring, summer and fall for our "commitments" to flip. Is this kid's Mom a member of some legislative body in a foreign country?

I don't follow recruiting quite as much as some...

of y'all here, but I just don't get why these guys commit in the first place, and why our coaches accept the commitment.
It seems that year in and year out so many guys change their mind, that a "commitment" really isn't saying much. Like we should come up with a new term for it b/c it's clearly not "commitment".
I also heard Dabo say at one time that we should have early signees. I'm all for that to take some of the drama out of this.
Re: Kids changing their mind. It bums me out when a kid flip-flops on us, but at the same time, going off to college is a big deal, and playing football at a major university is a big deal. I get that people change their minds, I just wish they wouldn't commit until they see what's out there and make an informed decision.

Agree on early signing. It wasnt always necessary for football because kids were not recruited so early. Now that offers go out to 9th and 10th graders something needs to be done. They are still students. I bet if kids could sign the summer before their senior year you would see less nonqualifiers. That last year is when the borderline kids should really be hitting the books. How do you have time to study with coaches calling, texting, writing letters, and coming by. Plus it would help the schools solidify their recruiting boards without some committed player at a position of need flipping when its too late to go to a backup plan.

Money talks as they say!! I have a possible solution to this nonsense
Apr 7, 2013, 4:31 PM
|
|
Player commits, recruiting is over. If player backslides and chooses to go elsewhere he loses his first year of eligibility, this way the flip-flip these CHILDREN pull will be finished. Bottom line is the word COMMITMENT has to mean something!! Not fair to University, to the team, to the coaching and recruiting staff. Young boys must grow up to be men, so this new rule would make them accountable for their actions with severe consequences. A year away from the game would effectively end any chances to play football again...
What do you think?
