Let's end the Belk debate.. Real reason he left, from his own mouth
May 24, 2018, 1:03 AM
|
|
https://southcarolina.rivals.com/news/josh-belk-gives-the-latest-following-gamecocks-visit
"This time it was just like business, like how big of an impact I can make on a team right away if the rule is passed where transfers can play right away," Belk said.
Really hope the NCAA hammer comes down on the kid.... And if you don't, read this part:
"Growing up as a little kid, I was a Carolina fan. I know I had mentioned in one of my other interviews, I had a closet full of Carolina stuff"
"Right now with the fronts and the schemes that they run, with my versatility, and my speed, quickness, and power, I can play up to three different positions and I would be like a huge asset to the team,"Belk said.
Not enough? There's more...
"Belk, who received an unconditional release, says he's just looking for the program that can help him be most successful.".
Guess that means if Clemson didn't play him immediately, they aren't good enough to help him be the most successful. Lmao.... Wow... Good riddance kid. Look forward to seeing our Tigers wax you all over the field for a few years on their way to playoffs and National Championships while you play for a team that's never won their conference championship once. Bye, Felicia.

I agree. I don't consider him a former Tiger. He never played a down and never contributed anything. What a drama queen, he reminds me of a 6 year old not getting the candy they want at the grocery store.

help seal it. Pathetic. Doesn't get his way so he gives up and takes his "talent" elsewhere. Sure you can play earlier there, bc theres no talent there, but you made a commitment, were too big a quitter to honor it, and you end up lying to support your poor character. Good riddance kid.

Kmart is definitely not a fit for Clemson. Revealing that his skills will make him a starter at usc but he would have been a 3rd-4th string this year at Clemson.

On his last semester of his Sr year to get to clemson. So he clearly was determined to play.
Stuff changed, he's unhappy..daBo let him go. Pretty simple.
With so many dline expected to leave for draft, Early play time was probably 1 of the tools used to recruit him.

Well said. It stinks to lose him, but I can't be mad at him. There's a whole lot of adults here who are saying terrible things about the kid, apparently not remembering that being 17/18 years old often throws a lot at you and leaving the confines of your home for the first time can be very intimidating.
Furthermore, if we're going to continue to be an elite program we need to get used to losing big names to transfer. The recruits we've been getting are often considered the "best of the best" when coming out of high school. They've likely never had to deal with being a backup or having to fight for playing time. If a player sees himself buried on the depth chart but knows he can be a starter elsewhere, that can be very tempting. Hunter Johnson is doing this...and you can bet this won't be the last transfer we see in the coming years if we continue to recruit at a high level.

I have bit lip until now, however, it’s confirmed from the horse’s mouth/a**!
Just to boil this down to true fact from ths young man’s own lips.
He wanted to leave Clemson because he was not going to start right away. He then created/manufactured circumstances in the way of a sick mom and hired an ambulance chasing lawyer to promote his transfer.
He intentionally, directly targeted and exploited the most amazing and beautiful trait of our head coach; his true love and compassion for his players and for all human beings. In doing so he disingenuously exploited everything that Dabo promotes, that now IS Clemson.
He and his blood suckIng “lawyer” won the day.
Who does stuff like this?
Answer: A young man whom should not now or have ever been given opportunity to be a Clemson Man.
Our Tigers will likely see this young man again on the field. I hope we make it a memorable experience for him.

Personally, I think a NDA for a transferring student is a smart thing for both parties to do, but particularly the school where the student was previously enrolled. (Translation: It's protects Clemson more than the student.) When this was first announced, everyone was saying stuff like "he's gonna give away the playbook". But couldn't a NDA protect information like that?

know if Belk sat down with USC coaches and told them everything?
That said, what kind of secrets does he really have? Most of our playbook is out there on film already. I doubt he knows much of anything that they aren't already aware of. It's not like he's going to have access to the game plan we implement against USC at the end of the season.

Belk and USC seem to be counting on the NCAA changing the rule so he can play in 2018. If they do, I hope it will not go into effect for a couple of seasons, too late to benefit Belk.
I don’t think he’s seriously considering UGA or any other school besides USC.

I got dirty just going over to read this!! I'll be surprised if he has any kind of real success because learning to be humble and being willing to work an earn your position are very important in learning to be a man. He will whine at every turn, that's poison for any team and Dabo knows that.
It's really a horrible decision but at 18 we all made bad ones but if he sees being at that dump as his answer they deserve each other.
Let's move on to the incredible players we do have!!!!
Go Tigers!!!!

To work and earn a spot on the 2 deep. He’ll go to USCjr and just show up and earn a spot on the 2 deep, but when the games on the line in the 4th quarter he’ll quit again. We need players who are willing to commit themselves too be the best they can be and help the team, like a Albert Huggins. Belk thought he could come in and start or make the 2 deep, but the competition was too much for him, so he’ll fit in just fine at USCjr.
2018: Clemson 70 USCjr 13
Get use to it Belk, losing is a tradition at jr??

He says he can be an asset with what he's got, not what he can be. Starts within, AND it starts with making your team better.
He'll crumble when asked to put forth a lick of effort. I would want him away from me "unconditionally" as well...and let me drive you to the bus station while we're at it...

d!cks. Don't you know we are supposed to bend and over and take it when kids treat our university and coaching staff like crap? Don't you ever make fun of him or call him names. In fact, some on here would probably love to see the kid run down the hill next year in a gamecock uniform. You know, once a tiger, always a tiger, yada, yada, yada.
I have no respect for anyone like Josh Belk that lies to our coaches, intentionally tries to disrupt our team and depth chart, has probably shared inside information to the coot coaching staff and is a selfish jackwagon. He deserves everything thrown at him and if it hurts some of you snowflakes too bad. Some of us called this situation for what it was from day one and our love for Clemson means that some of us will fire back in ways that make some uncomfortable when she is wronged by the rare garbage that occasionally slips into our program. That's too bad. Get yourself some smelling salts and a fainting sofa if you don't like it.

in the end. The kid is now branded a liar and has a lazy entitled attitude. No wonder he got an "unconditional" release form Dabo/CU. The older guys saw it,coaches saw it and he was determined to be a cancer, on the needed to be removed. Karma usually finds a way to make it right, she is also a cold hearted sumbeetch to boot. Who knows, maybe he falls in with a bad crowd in the cesspool that is Cootlumbia, maybe he has an O'lineman chop a knee. I am rooting for karma on this guy now. I do know that Belk and Muscoot desire each other , neither have a clue .

This proves that the ones beating up on their own bc they wasn't gullible enough to believe his lies that were clearly seen through for what they were from the beginning, shame on you. Standing with your own that has been with you for years isn't a bad thing just bc one see's things different from the other one.
When this story was first made public, there were a lot of long time Clemson fans willing to Gut a lot of long time Clemson fans only bc they didn't believe the story delivered by a lawyer that a kids family brought in to get him out of the contract he signed to be a part of the Clemson FB program.
I hope that most of us die hard Clemson fans will take away from this when it's all said, done and behind us. It's OK to not to think alike, it's OK to see, hear, and read things differently. But it's not OK to brutalize each other just bc we have a difference of opinions. After this BS goes away with the people on the far side laughing bc they feel they showed Clemson a thing or two, they had a lack of understanding that Dabo didn't think this situation deserved a fight, he didn't believe that it was worth fighting for. Dabo was smiling and thinking to himself, good riddance. But after it's gone away, we are still those die hard Clemson fans that has been around most of our lives with our blood running orange, WE deserve better for each other and from each other. It could be from memory loss over the years, but I don't remember Clemson fans being so H&ll bent on disrespecting each other 10-15 years ago the way that it is done today. Before you start spewing your worst out at our own just Remember, we're on the same team, the Clemson Tiger team!!! That's it!!!

I don't get why everyone is so "spun up" about his transfer. Dabo got off the hook. Evaluating talent is both art and science. Weights, heights, times, etc are scientific measurements. Heart, on the other hand, can not be so accurately assessed. Dabo and the Clemson coaches are excellent evaluators. But sometimes they make a mistake. Unfortunately, because Dabo is unlike Saban and Smart, when that occurs we've lost a scholarship for 4 years. In this case, however, Mr. Belk is making room for someone who has the heart of a Tigers. Our coaches haven't missed on many over the past 10 years. Granted, we have one less player on the roster this year, and that may affect the D line next year somewhat. But by this time next year, we'll have another hungry Tiger looking to make his mark. Thankfully, Mr. Belk didn't get to steal 4 years. He only got one. Thank goodness we found this out sooner than later. I truly hope he does to play for the "Yardbirds." It'll be sweet revenge to ruffle his feathers for the next 4 years. Go Tigers!

I spoke to a High School football coach about this situation last night and he said that as far as talent and ability as well as motor Belk was the real deal! He also heard from all the coaches at the all star games he coached in that Belk was not lazy! He could not speak for his character! He’s 18! No ill will for the kid but you gotta be All In to play for Dabo! If u can’t get excited about playin for Dabo then I doubt he will be a team guy elsewhere either! Look forward to seeing how things play out for him! Hope he doesn’t pull a Nkemdiche

We all see things a little differently than others in some way. I see this kid as a kid demanding that players ahead of him that has been paying their dues to be disrespected by being pushed to the side bc he comes in as a 5 star, and the players ahead of him maybe didn't, and he is wanting to cut the line bc he was a 5 star recruit. For me personally, he is showing that he has no respect for his team mates bc he thinks to highly of himself believing that he is better than they are by wanting their place without earning it. To earn a spot or a starting position on a team, you clearly have to prove you are better and deserving as the next man up. Belk had no intentions of waiting and earning his spot on the team, and he quit, so good riddance bc Dabo don't and won't play his I'm a 5 star talent game.

6 more months on here. I think we should continue to drag it out as long as possible.

He's a die hard coot lover, and should have just gone there in the first place. As I've said before he is just an 18 year old, and that's not an excuse but he was obviously confused. The big thing that stinks about this whole situation is how he wasn't just upfront, and wouldn't just flat out admit he didn't want to be at Clemson and wanted to be at Usuck. He had to lawyer up and make up some bull caca story to get the release.
I think there's a good Star Wars metaphor here. He momentarily saw the light and wanted to be a Jedi, but he succumbed to the dark side. Too bad for him.
