The conference as a whole is simply filled with tougher teams. This year in particular, they are tougher than the others...especially the SEC West.

A&M''s schedule so far- SC, Lamar, SMU, and Rice
Auburn- Arky, San Jose St, and a game gift wrapped from Kansas St.
Ole Miss- Boise St., Vandy, and LA-Lafayette
Miss St- Southern Miss, UAB, South Alabama, and LSU
Arky- Auburn, Nicholls St., Texas Tech, and N. Illinois
LSU- Wisconsin (good OOC game), Sam Houston, UL Monroe, MISS St.
Yeah they play some humdingers. I've already listed Bama's schedule and it is no better.

Double probation at that. Right? No way they lost any scholarships or official visits as they were supposed to. No way. A friend of mine, yes a coot friend, posted on Facebook that SC was leading the way for the SEC with the head count 4 year scholarships.

How come two middle tier teams (A&M and Missouri) went from bottom feeders to the top of the conference in their first couple of years?
The SEC hype is insane and with the SEC Network being owned partially by ESPN and the fact that CBS only has the rights to a SEC game, the two main sports sites have a huge interest in the SEC.
As far as I can tell, Bama has dominated that conference and when they don't make it to the MNC game, Oklahoma just beats them down in a bowl.
I am nor convinced with the amount of money involved and the rule that coaches can't speak against the officials in the SEC that the networks don't tell the officials to call anything questionable. Look at when the Coots played UGA and the late flag on the no hold when Gurly went for a TD. It would not be good for the network if UGA had pretty much wrapped up the east in week 3 of the season.
I am not saying this happens but with the amount of money involved, anything is possible.
