Yes, Clemson football has been down over the past few years.
Yes, it is our nature on this platform and others like it to overestimate the ability of the team in the off-season.
However, heading into 2025 is the first time in a while that we have had legitimate reason to be optimistic about the upcoming year. Sure we convinced ourselves that DJU teams could win a national championship, and quite frankly we were smoking crack rock.
But consider the following: A top-5 QB in the sport A top-5 receiving core in the sport A (hopefully) revamped defense Talent retention better than anyone in the country A head coach who seems to be getting with the times
I'm not shooing this team in as an automatic contender for a first round bye, but this team certainly has a chance to compete like the days of Lawrence and Watson.
Go Tigers.

“Revamped defense”
This remains to be seen, our defensive roster will essentially be the same with the big improvement being the portal DE.
We are also losing Mickens and Carter, I’m not sold on our safety room, I know Sammy can fill in nicely at LB but if we have to go to a 3 backer set, I don’t know what we really have.
If the problem is all coaching and we get the right fit in the offense season, maybe the defense really is revamped, however, if the defensive roster just isn’t that great ( and so far it hasn’t been) there might not be much improvement.

We are easily a top 10 team.
Our starters will be able to play with anybody in the nation.
However , we have serious depth issues.
If we could bring Phil Parker on board I'm kinda hoping he could bring a few players aboard ( via the portal ).
Hey , Cignetti ( Indiana ) brought half his team with him from JMU so let's not pretend it's unprecedented

Must get a DC. Need another top tier LB. Praying Adam Randal pans out at RB for some depth. It would be a plus if we got a legitimate punter. Do this and I really like our chances

Relies heavily on Defense. A major change has to take place.

Wes has been so disappointing this year after showing improvement last year. And I don't feel bad saying that now that the season is over. It's like he doesn't really know how to TEACH fundamentals. Every missed tackle on run plays is on Wes's inability to coach guys in my humble opinion. Sometimes players can be blamed, but it was too much of the same all year with bad playcalling, bad 'package' players.
We'll see. I do think this early on, the ACC runs through Clemson next year.

Dabo has hopefully opened the door on utilizing the portal (still need 2-3 more to fill needs). He MUST fix the Defense (coordinator & some talent in spots).
The offense is close...........hopefully we HAVE or get an EXPLOSIVE RB to complete the skill trifecta..........not a fan of the "power back" mindset.
