Men's college soccer has so much parity

Look at the top 10

1. Portland
2. NC State
3. Stanford
4. Vermont
5. Bryant
6. Georgia Southern
7. High Point
8. West Virginia
9. Duke
10. UNC-Greensboro

some strange schools in there. The SEC and Big 12 not sponsoring the sport allows for smaller programs to thrive.

Does that mean the SEC is officially off the table for us?

Or would we be willing to join the Sun Belt in soccer like South Carolina?

Or does any sport outside of football even have leverage in any decision making when/if it comes to changing conferences?

Clemson is a great part of the rich history of ACC Mens Soccer Teams with National titles by Clemson (4), Virginia, Duke, Syracuse, UNC, Wake, Stanford.

The standard of play in the conference is high and travel is relatively short. I think it’s better to stay put.

Leaving the ACC would be worse for us in every sport

Except football and maybe softball.

But yes men’s soccer would be hurt the most.

If Clemson joins the SEC and were joined by UNC or UVA which have

men's soccer program, only 1 more school adding a program would meet the 25% member threshold for the conference to sponsor it. I imagine that would happen. In fact, Clemson joining would probably trigger 2 programs to start them up. Currently UK and UofSC have programs. Those programs have been good programs in the past. It's been a while for UofSC but it would be a big boost to their program if that happened.

The SEC just started rowing as Alabama, Tennessee, Texas and OU all have programs. 4 of 16.

If SEC goes superconference and takes 4 out of Clemson, UNC, UVA, Louisville, and FSU - they would add Men's Soccer and Rowing as conference sports.

Alternatively - as you suggested - two of the 3 of Clemson, UNC, UVA would leave them one away. Tennessee, Texas, A&M, UGA, Florida, Bama, Auburn are all schools where Men's Soccer would make sense.

they already added rowing because they got to 4 with Texas and OU coming on

board. 16 teams in the league so 4 was 25%.

Despite Successes At Bryant, Mike Pressler Still Haunted By Lax Scandal

He went through a very difficult time and the former coach still hasn’t completely come to terms with what happened in the Duke Lacrosse scandal.

There were a lot of victims in the Duke lacrosse hoax, and after the players who were accused, no one was treated more unfairly than former coach Mike Pressler.

He spoke to 60 Minutes about his experience. Suffice it to say it was searing and he’s still angry. It’s hard to blame him. The worst part had to have been the abuse his daughters were subjected to. Who treats children that way?

He’s largely rebuilt his life and in retrospect, deserves a lot of admiration for standing up for what’s right even though it cost him plenty. He was (and is) a better man than most understood at the time.

It would have been nice if former A.D. Joe Alleva had had the courage Pressler did, or the university institutionally, for that matter. People really suffered from Crystal Mangum’s falsehoods.

Parity because no one cares about a European game. Have you tried watching paint drying or golf? Both are much more exciting.
