Today the 4 hour ride was in the 1965 Larson fiberglas 14' skiff with 15hp Tohatsu 4-stoke which took off at the Lady's Island, SC ICW sector, passing under the old swing bridge past downtown Beaufort, pass Parris Island Marine Base on the right as if headed towards Port Royal Sound & HHI..
But instead I veered left off of ICW into couple nice wide channels, then down into some narrow winding creeks to check-out beautiful homes/docks/boats that were probably on Cat & Cane Islands that adjoin Lady's.
Then back past Parris Island area to find a shell bar to sit on, snack, look at little sailboats competing, contemplating what life has left for me at 83, but instead of drowning myself I waded in and floated awhile with temp at a wonderful 92*.
Summer is half over for this recreational sight-seeing adventurer boater but the coastal waters always bring content, joy & inner satisfaction to this former sailer even though over the years involving motorboats, sailboats & kayaks it's been almost deadly too due to accidents, weather & groundings.
Til tomorrow, Enjoy and Go ALL TiGERS!

Nice pic. Everyone needs to check out Delk Hagler's photos. He lives in Beaufort and has an abundance of beautiful work on his website. Check it out: https://www.delkhaigler.com/Gallery/Lowcountryboats

I just haven't had the common sense to hang up the work habits, so continue doing what I have loved most of my 77 years: working. Nevertheless, I admire those who are adventurous and enjoy appreciating this old world in which we dwell.
More power to you, old Friend!

LBB, you hit the nail on the head! There's something about being on the water that just releases all tensions and stress, at least it did for me. I had a 22' sailboat that I primarily used on Lake Murray and then Lake Hartwell with a few trips thrown in for sailing in Charleston Harbor and the ICW. All cares would melt away. Your post makes me miss my former boat and tempts me to buy another one.

us and ain't nothing like setting out at night somewhere sheltered in St. Helena or Port Royal Sound with spotlights, finding that flounder shape in the sand below your boat as you watch other denizens of the deep swim by, gigging it, cleaning it, and having fresh flounder fried to perfection. A spot on memory of late Summer at Lands End. Go Tigers!!!!

Thanks for sharing, beautiful. Reminds me of my years living on Wilmington Island and viewing Thunderbolt Marina on the way home from Savannah.
