Lack of progress on defense a symptom of ACC football

Nov 25, 2012, 1:25 PM

When we play ACC opponents we don't need our best athletes on the field on defense, we just need guys who do their jobs. We can go with the guys who know their assignments, even if they aren't the best athletes, and still beat down horrid teams. When we play good teams, we need our best athletes on the field, not on the bench, but because we have been playing it safe all season with our personel in order to....I don't know maybe win the ACC, when we play South Carolina, some of our best athletes only play special teams, while our assignment guys are getting physically dominated on defense.

Tony Steward and Teek would be 2 players

They were 5 and 4 star players because they are great athletes, they just haven't "learned" the "system" yet, of course, we have a season full of J.V. teams for them to practice against. Cortez Davis was considered one of the top safeties in the nation coming out of high school, and in case you didn't notice, our safeties leave something to be desired. We had an entire season to plug better athletes into our defense, but played it safe in order to assure wins against inferior opponents.

Re: Did Teek play on special teams last night? i don't

recall seeing him. The first part of the season, he had some real good hits, yet we play D Rod and let him sit. If he has played, on kick off teams the last three weeks, I don't recall it. Yet, we gave up big return yardage in the last two games.
