I think it's sweet...

how both of UVa's football fans called in to defend their program.
They're both completely wrong, but it was still sweet nonetheless.
THe Hoos have one 10-win season in the last 30 years. Prior to that, they had ONE other 10-win season IN SCHOOL HISTORY. While they do have three or four 9-win seasons mixed in here and there, at the end of the day, when it comes to college football, UVA is Mr. Irrelevant and they pretty much always have been.

They do have two ACC titles. One of those was shared in the 90s with FSU so that says something. Welsh could coach.
I can't imagine a worse football program having fewer titles...

UVA football.
I had a good friend from high school I graduated with play linebacker there in the mid-late 90's. This is what he said George's offensive philosophy was:
"4 yards, 3 yards, 3 Yards. First down".

This rant took place in either late 2005 or early 2006.

it was right in the middle of the Al Groh era, so he was spot on with his analyses about UVA curling up in the fetal position against VA Tech. Matter of fact, it was about this time, VT started a 15 year winning streak. LOL!!

At least we win National Championships for the conference -

Something VT has never done in any sport. Some teams win National Championships in football for the conference and some teams win National titles in basketball and baseball for the conference. This game will strictly be a measuring stick to see if UVA has improved since last year, the outcome is already known. If we could somehow keep it within 3 scores, that would be great progress. I also hope you beat VT by more points than you beat us. I hope you guys win it all and beat OSU in the finals. Will be a great game to watch. Hoping it's an injury free game on Saturday.

In fact, probably way down the list, but I have to sincerely thank you for making an old Hokie smile.
For the record, I have had this saved on my hard drive for a decade. It is gold.

I literally think this, and Al Groh, set UVA football back 15 years at UVA.

I went to graduate school at UVA and this is absolutely spot on. I knew I was in trouble when I showed up for my first home game in the early 1980s and the students were wearing blue blazers and rep ties, and fancy dresses. George Welsh came soon thereafter, and the program was somewhat respectable for a bit of time. UVA's only quality win was giving Free Seafood University (FSU) its first ACC loss!
