Back to the elf on a shelf thing...I have questions
Dec 4, 2014, 11:26 AM

I get the idea that the elf is watching the kid all the time to be good.
But is the story to them that they only move around at night when the kid cant see them do it (because the kid is asleep) Basically, the elves are in some kind of trance during the day (but can still watch the kids), then come alive at night?

STOP QUESTIONING SANTA'S MAGIC!!!!!!

But Yes, I think that's the general concept.
Or you can let your child watch "Chuckie" and tell her that's Chuckie's best Elf friend.

That would be my sticking point with the whole thing. Why isn't he moving around?

Sounds like a good way to get out of having to buy your kids things.
"Y'all were ######## this year, so instead of getting you a bunch of presents and such, Roger gave daddy a new SRT-8 Challenger"

Sits there during the day and loses magic if the kids touch

the elf. He heads to the North Pole at night to report to Santa. He flys back and gets in another position (or the same position if I forget to move him). Kids are young a gullible. They don't question stuff like Santa's magic.

you end up with kids one day. I had precisely the same mentality as you in my 20s. Even my early 30s. You'll see. And I'll be here to laugh and mock you when it happens, Young Whitehurst.

Yeah....Unfortunately, you're probably right

Right now I'm just trying to acquire as many man toys as I can(off road vehicles, boats, maybe a jetski, nice truck, fast car, etc.) before my all but living with me girlfriend really pushes the marriage issue. I've told her not even to think about it until she's out of college, so that gives me until next summer. After that, I figure I can hold her off for 6 months or so before I've either got to produce a ring or she breaks up with me.
So yeah, you're probably 100% correct.

bruh, marriage doesn't necessarily equate to kids...

Also, toys are liquid. If the wife wants them gone you might as well just give it up.
I just got rid of my Charger to get something new and more "practical".
She is cool with me restoring my old truck though so that works.

She doesn't want kids now by any means, but I know she will. And the way I figure it, if I've already procured the toys before our finances are linked, she can't say ####. She may try, but I'll be all #yolo #dontgiveaphuck what you say. My mother has already warned her about this anyway, as my father is pretty much the same way. It makes mom mad when he buys a new 65" TV they didn't need, but she deals with it.

jerking off in the closet crying on his lunch break because that's the only 20 minute window he gets to himself everyday. And the drinking problem that has spiraled into a prescription pill addiction due to the crushing debt he's acquired to put his child through private school and pay for his wife's new $75k Suburban she absolutely had to have so that she could keep up appearances for the PTA board.

To be fair, that is just an accurate general description of a lot of (mostly white) families who play the one-upping game. It is very common in Greenville.
