Players that wait until signing day. Not liking that at all

I want players who love Clemson. A few trips to Clemson should be enough to make you love it or not. I understand not rushing to commit your junior year or too early in your senior year. But WHY WAIT until signing day? What does that say about the player's committment to the school?
That said, I will take ANY and ALL of the players Clemson is trying to sign. I just have a lot more respect and appreciation for the players who commit earlier.
I think waiting until signing day is extremly selfish and puts your selected school at risk of oversigning or undersigning or of missing out on other great teammates.
This is one man's opinion today.
GO TIGERS!!!! Go, Fight, WIN!!!!

A couple of reasons:

|
|
(1) Dabo actually tries to talk the players OUT of committing unless they're pretty much certain. Adams has handled this process much better than Kdmdizchtche. (2) The dude from the AJC (Carvell?) won't harass them as much if he thinks they're going to UGa or wherever

Depends how they handle it...

A recruit can announce his decision for the cameras, yet make his decision weeks earlier. Some have to be jabbed by coaching staff into deciding, but unless the kid is truly conflicted he'll know well in advance....and share that info with coaches.

Jenkins and Robinson obviously were not SURE.

There are plent of other great recruits that will be sure.
I just think the student athletes that will "get" Clemson and love it, will "get" it early and have no reason to wait until signing day.
Be a man, make a committment. Don't worry about the press (even the AJC).

Regardless of how much they love Clemson or how good of kids they may be, they still want the spotlight and the fame

Good publicity for the school

I am not saying that they have already, but if some of these guys have already told Clemson they wanted to commit, then it would be smart to tell them to announce on signing day. ESPN always makes a big deal about people making last minute decisions and about schools who get a lot of commits on signing day. Clemson will get good attention if we get 2 or 3 of these guys to commit and sign on TV. Also if they wait then other schools can't start playing against us to try to get them to waiver like Florida did with Robinson.

That kind of makes sense.

But if we get those great recruits to commit early, and get our class in the top 5, I'm pretty sure that will draw lots of attention early AND on signing day --- especially if we bring them to all to Clemson on signing day to make a big announcement.

Kids that wait until NSD to commit tend to be higher profile

recruits that are more self confident and not afraid of losing a spot at any given program. Yeah there could be some silent commits in the group, but I actually see this as a positive for Clemson that we are in the running for all these 4 and 5 star guys. Not to mention the publicity we had two years ago when Steward and Anthony pulled the trigger...saying that "Clemson is coming". I want another repeat NSD like that!!

I think it is a sign of the times. Some of the highly ranked kids want to get those last calls from top coaches kissing their feet.
Some have already made up their mind, silently committed, and don't answer the phone because they are tired of getting calls and tweets since they were in 9th grade
And some still haven't made up their minds
These are 18 -19 year old kids making a huge decision, or.......... ....waiting to see if the check clears.

I would no longer be a college football fan if I knew this was a widespread practice. And for those schools doing this, I hope they get the death penalty and pay a huge fine.
There is no honor in cheating.

I have to disagree with your opinion

I don't care when they commit, or even if they decommit and then recommit.
Not every student in high school from across the country has the same kind of love you have for Clemson. Many of them didn't grow up watching Clemson play, going to their games, and/or spending time on the campus. Your opinion is completely biased.
Despite popular belief, there are many schools out their with great fb programs with great traditions and beautiful campuses.
I will think nothing less of these late comittments. They show maturity in not flinging their name at will to whatever school they fancy for the day. And no offense, but these players care nothing for your respect. They will be here to win games and championships, which is all I care for...

Not buying all of that, but

I do understand that these are 18 and 19 year old kids.
But I think SOME of these kids are prima donas, and I'm not thrilled with those types of players. I'm also not wanting or expecting the repect or approval of those kids. I'm just stating my opinion.
Most other students pick their college fairly early. They usually know their top 2 or 3 schools and are waiting for acceptance letters. They usually know which school is at the top of their list. These are 18 and 19 year old kids too.
Again, that said, I hope Clemson signs each and every player on their wish list whenever they can ----- before, on, or after national signing day.
GO TIGERS!

So are you saying you have no respect for the decommit Ryan Jenkins, even though he pretty much did word for word what you said? He didn't know if he would get an offer from Tennesse...out of those that offered him at the time, he chose the best of the lot for him which was Clemson. Heck, he even helped Clemson recruit...
Just not entirely sure what you're trying to get at with the original post. I don't think there's anything wrong with waiting till NSD...just a difference of opinion I guess.

Relax. High school kids with multimillionaire coaches

begging for them to come play for them for free. It's a big decision for them and a lot of people are in their ears. Give me the five star who shows respect to ALL coaches and programs that are recruiting him and respectfully makes an announcement on signing day -- I will take that.
