I hope that was not our starting kickoff team because we looked very slow. I do not think I have ever seen players giving each other a high 5 before they got to the end zone.

The 2 kickoffs that did not go into the end zone cost Clemson a TD and then a serious injury to Sergio Allen. I hope I'm wrong but it looked like at least on the first one that it was intentionally kicked high in the air and was not planned to be a touchback. I realize that a kicker has to hit the ball just right to make a kick unreturnable but if either of these kicks were planned not to go into the end zone it was obviously a really stupid decision. Kick offs are the most dangerous plays in football and with our depleted roster a wise thing to avoid.

The first, I agree, was a high kick and trying to pin them behind the 25. Kid from UCONN was a burner, and when he dropped the kick, everyone zoned in and left their position leaving the outside open.

The 2nd kickoff with the long return was the back up kicker.

The coaches recognized the UCONN player as a threat. That's the reason Spires was punting rugby style the whole game and going for a long roll instead of just kicking it high.

IMO.
