faceless musicians that fade away into obscurity. Somebody (Joe?) recently posted the classic Highwayman video that was recorded live. Just listen to all the little lead guitar riffs/fills in between each verse that is sung. They're just perfect, subtle, not overdone, etc. I was curious and had to research. His name was Reggie Young, passed away a couple years ago. You can look him up, he played, toured and recorded with everybody from Elvis on down.

Just another of those nondescript guys that most folks have never heard of... standing in the background, in faded jeans and a T-shirt. Laying down the licks. Kinda like the Wrecking Crew or the Motown dudes. Never a star, but no doubt made a good living just doing his thing.
