An udder question: Good restaurants in Charlotte?
Nov 20, 2013, 1:28 PM

I'm trying to avoid going to Cheesecake Factory, because that is the worst place on earth. If I can convince my wife of some other place, I can make this happen. Can't be expensive, because I'm just a little poor.

Is Spoons, the hamburger joint in Charlotte

[ in reply to Bill Spoon's BBQ.*** ] |

still open? There used to be one on Hawthorne or somewhere around there, but I haven't been down that way in a long time. I think I smuggled a burger in to my dad when he was in the hospital up the street. Not sure when that was. Anyway, those were pretty good burgers.

Bill Spoon's BBQ has been on South Blvd for as long as I can remember. Never ate at Spoon's uptown, but I remember seeing the building.

owned by the same company as PF Changs. It's a little more casual dining (order at the counter and sit and wait for them to bring it to you), but the food is really good IMO, especially for the money. My issue with PF CHANGS is that it's not that much better than Lin Garden in Pendleton. Actually, I like Lin Garden more.

Flair used to live near there and you get to see him some too, which is an added bonus. The burgers are awesome if you don't want to eat the Sushi and it really isn't god awful expensive without drinks.
Get the ELVIS HAS LEFT THE BUILDING burger.

It shows effort on my part, as opposed to just truckin' it over to the local Olive Garden. It's not particularly logical, I realize. The going to Charlotte part is probably not negotiable in this situation.
