joyner not offered as qb

Jun 18, 2016, 1:37 PM

if the coaches did not offer joyner as a qb does that mean our coaches feel really good about Lawrence.joyner says hes going to be a qb

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Maybe we are set at QB for a bit with our 2017 class

Jun 18, 2016, 1:40 PM

and 2018 isn't a priority at QB? Maybe we want him of the field playing sooner?

it could just mean they don't think he is good enough to be QB at Clemson

If we miss on Lawrence and Jones, we will prolly offer Joyner

Jun 18, 2016, 2:02 PM

It would be stupid to not fill the last QB spot with a in-state kid that has immense athletic ability and continues to develop as a QB. Even if he never pans out, at least the coots won't have him.

I agree he is the type that goes to another school and comes back to haunt you. I cant believe that if the coaches did not feel good about Lawrence he would not leave without that offer. I hope joyner holds out for the offer

We offered Joyner over a year ago

Jun 18, 2016, 2:34 PM

Not sure where this other info is coming from

We offered Joyner over a year ago - info from Lawrence fans!

Jun 18, 2016, 5:48 PM [ in reply to We offered Joyner over a year ago ]

And I can't really blame them as Lawrence looks that good, however Joyner is nearly as good. Our chances with Joyner are much higher as he has been wanting to be a Tiger since 8th grade, when he first became starter, and he has improved every year and loves and practices with DW4 when he can. Also, his best big buddy John Simpson enrolled this summer or will enroll? I really don't think we have much of a chance with Lawrence, but hope I am wrong? Then hopefully Joyner will come in as athlete????

I seriously doubt that Carolina will recruit him as a quareterback.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Where did you see that?

Jun 18, 2016, 2:31 PM

Are you just assuming that we didn't because of that article saying USC might have a chance because they're offering him solely as a QB?

i smell FEATHERS!!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He has an offer as an Athlete.

Jun 18, 2016, 2:52 PM

Right now , that's it. He'll be back at camp again next and maybe by then he will be improved enough to get an offer to play QB at Clemson. If he doesn't,he'll still have an offer at safety. If he is then set on QB, he'll have to play for a lesser team like the Coots.

no feathers here that's what is quoted as saying on the Clemson insider his words

No - he'll have an offer as an athlete - that's not necessarily safety. It could be many positions.
RB
WR
LB
CB
S

Heck - DE - two of our best DEs were QB recruits years ago - Headen and Sapp.

badge-donor-20yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

null

In his own words per TCI interview, Safety is the position

Jun 18, 2016, 3:06 PM

being talked about right now. He could grow out of that and move down to LB or DE. If he improves as much as did at QB from last year's camp to this year's camp, he'll have a QB offer.Yes ,no matter what, he'll have a Clemson offer. What the final offer position is still to be seen.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Have you seen the kid run the zone read?

Jun 18, 2016, 3:47 PM

I know it's high school but I don't see anyone stopping it in college unless you have NFL linebackers and DE's. Once he gets the back 7 biting it's straight over the top for 7. It would be real nice to have that option and he is most likely going to a rival if he does not come to Clemson.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

where did you see that check this out looks to me like he

Jun 18, 2016, 4:12 PM

was offered as a qb over a year ago where did you see that he wasn't.

I think this is what he's talking about:

Jun 18, 2016, 5:52 PM

http://theclemsoninsider.com/2016/06/18/joyner-i-will-play-quarterback/

If that is the case, and we have not offered him as a QB, then I' good with that. I can find no reason whatsoever to doubt or second-guess our coaches. I mean it's not like they have a history of bad recruiting decisions.

Isn't Dabo's policy that you get a shot to play the position you want at first and they reassign you if you can't make the 2-deep? I'm thinking about Albert Huggins wanting to be DE, TJ Green and a few others.

Jun 19, 2016, 3:09 PM

I don't see the hype so many are talking about with this young man. It's not a knock whatsoever. If he is determined, I have no doubt he can and will go somewhere as a QB. I just don't see the comparison some have made to DW4. No. Way. At. All. Also, if CU coaches feel he had a further upside (Sundays) at another position, I would at least listen.
