It would seem that even one doesn't have a career, that the wife going into her own doctor's appointments would be alone time and much need break and privacy. Maybe even enjoy a brew and some tunes alone?

visiting the OB/Gyn. That was probably moreso with the first kid as well, less with the other two (someone had to watch them or work)
I went with my mom to alot of her oncology appointments, so I could see a husband going with a wife to that.
Regular appointments? Nah, either they are lying to you or they are paranoid the wife is getting deep dicked by the good doctor
