Good summary of where we are but nothing really novel here. If we could get a reasonable buyout for 2031, that is probably the best we will ever get.

I've seen a lot of Pate videos and have yet to see him drop a bomb about anything.

I did not title the video. The title came with the video. To me, the thing I found that I had not considered was the fact that FSU, CLEMSON AND MIAMI may not end up getting the extra bonus money for performance or brand name. He mentions GT as being on the upswing. UNC could also enter the picture for a share. It is an unknown and is not a guarantee. If you factor in basketball, we definitely may be on the outside looking in. His point was that FSU and Clemson gain nothing under this deal by dropping their law suit. If we can't find a way out before 2031 on the GOR issue, we are screwed.
I also had not considered that if the brand teams in the SEC and BIG ask for the same deal, and get it, we are still 60-85 million dollars a year behind.
I wouldn't call any of those points bomb shells, but food for thought. I don't know if Clemson has thought this through or not. They certainly gave no thought to signing this pos contract that tied them to the ACC for 30 years when Swofford screwed them.

Why would basketball hurt us? We are 4th in ACC wins since LJ was rebuilt including an elite 8 and sweet 16.

The performance money is based on results each year.

Ok so how does our basketball program hurt us as we have been doing very well over the past few years since we made the required changes?

I do miss the TTT days. When Lester still worked there, he had pitchers at $1 during happy hour. My buddy Rocky had to talk a prof into a C to graduate and when he relented, Rocky laid down a $50 and bought beer for the house. It didn’t last long, but I wonder how much his $50 would buy today. From a time perspective, Danny was about half way through his tenure at the time, maybe a little more.

WRT the podcast, not a bomb but interesting and definitely big news, if not new news. He noted how a few other people had already covered the topic. Regardless, I think Clemson is in better shape, or will be if they get some relief in 2031. Will we potentially fall financially behind tOSU, Alabama, Michigan, and Texas? Sure, but that was going to happen regardless. Will we fall further behind as it relates to Auburn, Ole Miss, UT, usc-e, Penn St., Ok, Wisconsin, et al? Maybe not and that concerned me more than a handful with really deep pockets. We have always needed to punch above our weight.

I still don't see why any of the other ACC members are going to vote for anything that gives a few schools a bigger cut than they get. Maybe they would allow an increase in their recent change of awarding the conference champs more money because they could conceivably get in on that. But taking less money especially since it seems there is a good chance there is no way out for the big boys would just be stupid.
Now if we could get accomplished what they talked about I still wouldn't mind if the other conferences were allowed to do the same. At least then we would be making as much as Vanderbilt and Rutgers who are set to make 10's of millions more than a power like us.
Man this absolutely stinks. Scary situation.

Perhaps they concede the fact that ESPN/ACC contract is mostly due to...

a handful of teams and don't want to lose those teams knowing that their next contract review would reflect the losses.
'Don't mussel the ox which treads out the corn,' is how the old folks addressed that type economics.

One would hope but I just don't see it. Especially considering this contract goes for 11 more years. By the time that one is up everything is going to be blown up anyway. I predict they all refuse the speculated arrangement.
