Boys and Girls, soccer season is over in our house

OR DA>MN CLOSE
Middle son had their last tournament this weekend. Youngest wrapped up their season two weeks ago. Rec League for middle son ended a week ago. Daughter's last Rec League practice is today, last game is this Saturday.
The boys do have try-outs this Tuesday, but they are at the same time and it is one day, to place them on teams next year.
Now is daughter's AAU volleyball season would end, but that is in about a month.
For a stretch of late April and early May, our week was like this:
Monday: Youngest soccer practice at 5:00 Middle soccer practice at 6:15 Daughter soccer practice at 6:15
Tuesday: Youngest soccer practice at 5:00 Middle soccer practice at 6:15 Daughter volleyball practice at 6:00
Wednesday: OFF, thank TOM
Thursday: Youngest soccer practice at 5:00 Middle soccer practice at 6:15 Daughter volleyball practice at 6:00
Friday: Middle Rec League soccer practice at 6:00
Saturday: Daughter soccer game in morning Youngest soccer tourney SOMEWHERE in Eastern NC Middle soccer game SOMEWHERE in Eastern NC
We bit off more than we could chew, going to a team with less practices and less weekend games for the next season, see how that goes. I'd like to say it was fun, but that was too much to do.

under control. And rec soccer might not happen next year without eliminating something else.
My kids are athletic, but they aren't great at anything. Just want them to keep playing.

When you grasp that the tryouts have nothing to do with who makes a national developmental team. They know the roster going in and they’ve known for a good 2-3 years brcause a connected club coach has put their player on the radar.

They stacked two teams with all the kids whose Dad's played soccer or who had older kids in the program already, coaches kids, and then the exceptional immigrants. Then the leftovers got put into random U9 teams with crappy coaches. Our coach quit half way through the season, got a UNCW kid coaching them the second half. They actually got alot better, but the two good teams would KILL my son's team.

none of those are on the docket for this summer.
Talked to one of the AAU Volleyball parents last week though, their daughter is doing private training/weight lifting twice a week, AAU practice twice a week, and will be geared up for High School summer workouts soon. That seems like a really crappy way to start the summer. My daughter is a year younger and we are encouraging her to run some, that is it. Mainly because she wants to do cross-country again.

Had I wanted to travel all over the southeast playing some sport, he would have just laughed and just said "no".
There wouldn't have been an argument, or even a discussion. He may have thrown in some mumble about "who the eff do you think is going to carry you around? I gotta work" and walked off.

This kind of stuff has to be wrecking families, I can see where many marriages wouldn't survive that gauntlet for long. I'd be ready to leave my family for the Bahamas within 6 weeks.

I played travel soccer for many years, looking back I missed out on a lot of other stuff because of it. I can assuredly say we will not be doing the drive 8+ hours for a weekend tournament ordeal unless that little joker looks like the next coming of Pele or something.
