Trump is saving the planet by raising the price, like Jimmy Carter and Al Gore wanted, so people will use less. Praise Gaia the Earth Goddess Mother!, the bad orange man is really an Eco-Warrior!!! Who knew?

Oil prices are down, so ask the gas station. Don't blame Trump because you're not man enough to ask a face to face question to a human.

It wouldn't matter of oil prices were down. There could be refinery issues. Demand could be way up for gas. Then there is also speculation and trading. Speculators might be expecting higher prices due to natural disasters..hurricanes etc, so the price is driven up. There are a lot of factors.

America has plenty of energy but we export it because people in other places will pay more for it. This is the truth and unless you want the government to nationalize the oil and gas industry you kind of need to let free markets work.

We export it because we need sweet crude, not the lighter crude usually found here now. Our refineries were built ages ago and optimized for sweet crude (which is now plentiful in the Middle East) vs what we now produce domestically. Presidents from both sides of the aisle have done nothing to ease the burdens of building new refineries or pushing for retrofits. This isn’t a Trump Vs Sleepy Joe issue, it’s a both sides of the aisle take money from lobby groups to keep the status quo and scr*w the general public. But keep on believing that the “other” party is really the villain, that’s just what keeps them all employed

Please tell us what changes need to be made to the refineries to make them better able to produce gasoline versus just repeating something g you found on the internet. The one part I agree with you on is it’s not a Trump versus Biden etc issue. Those who believe that are just too lazy to put in the homework.
Also have you ever been in a refinery or LNG plant or any other kind of petrochemical plant or even a utility plant?

I’m and industrial engineer, but not in the oil/gas sector. I’m not claiming to be an expert in the field which is why I attached a source.
From my experience though it makes sense, industrial equipment is set up optimized for raw materials with specific tolerances, especially with regard to viscosity and chemical composition. We use both raw plastic resin along with paint, solvents, and chemicals used in automotive painting. There are multiple quality gates set up between our supplieries and our facility to ensure only materials that fall within tolerance enter our facility because otherwise they could cause a myriad of problems ranging from creating excess scrap all the way to severe equipment damage. Changes to industrial equipment normally takes a significant amount of time and investment, along with at least partial downtime of the existing equipment while you do it, hurting output.
I definitely agree it’s time to upgrade our equipment to process our own crude and become more independent, but those changes will bear significant costs which for sure will be passed along to us as consumers, meaning it will get worse before it gets better

Exactly! To my point, ask the seller before blaming. Just maybe one seller would have a clue or would admit to just gouging.
If you think about it, there may be some idiot trying to create fear over cutting off Russia sales but that has been countered by OPEC gradually increasing production until it hits about 550 million barrels per day by September.

That was a drop in the bucket and not a factor as far as this thread and pricing. It was a political stunt by Biden. We are restoring it though and we back to 2022 levels now and we will back in a few years.

I just depends on the gas station. Spinx in Liberty is at $2.85, but Ingles gas has stayed at $2.58. They know it is going o fluctuate day to day. As far as gas being down 30 cents, it's just back to where it was before it went up. There have been no significant drops worth bragging about.

Up $0.30 most everywhere where I’m at.
I think the answer is pure greed. I don’t know, and to your point crude has come down. No reason gas should be over $2 gal, but I think it will reach under $2 under this presidency.

actually think TN is the south? You live in the Midwest dude. There are more Yankees in TN than there are at a reunion for the 1999 MLB World Series title. It’s cute though that you guys think you live in the south. Also if you wanna get dusted bring your 1961 souped up el Camino around and see how fast you get left behind.
BTW go away back to your still you’re not needed here.

I've watched gas prices flutter in the wind like a flag during

rolling thunderstorms.
I use premium gas, so I'm hoping it stays below $4 a gallon. I think most of the pricing is based upon what the Nervous Nellies are doing in the Chicago Futures Market, all of which involve a certain amount of greed IMO. Several years ago, when gas dropped close to the $2 range, I told friends it wouldn't stay there long before the oil people interceded, because they don't want $2 gas. They'll find an excuse to raise. My thinking is that they'd like to see regular at about $3, then start creeping it up to $4.

My understanding of this is that gas at the pump is different from anything else they may be selling. In other words, they aren't selling gas at the price that they bought it. They are selling it at the price that they may have to buy it for next time. If the inground tanks are full, that may be a month or more before they have to buy it again. If that price if fluctuating dramatically, its a crapshoot.
If it's a local chain (or smaller chain), they are at the mercy of the larger players in the game. Think Sheets or QT. Most convenience stores make more money inside the store, (beer, snacks and cigarettes), than gas.
