For Florida and McElwain? Dude is only 22-16 (Colo St had success before him) and he road Sabans defense/recruiting coattails at Bama. I dont get why everyone thinks hes the greatest think since sliced bread. He may do great things at Florida, but as of now I dont see why kids would want to decommit and commit to UF just bc of him.

He's just this offseason's hot new coach at a Power 5 program coming from a successful stint at a non P5 program. It helps he's at Florida, too. Sometimes they work out (Urban Meyer), sometimes they're simply ok (Al Golden), and sometimes they're a disaster (Dan Hawkins).
I guess some are seeing a future Zook/Meyer-like transition out of this, but McElwain's resume isn't what Meyer's was at that time and his offense isn't revolutionary.

But any of the positive spin is probably due more to it being the SEC and the fact that it was so bad under Muschamp. Plus, how many new HC are there yet to write about and get clicks and reads besides maybe Harbaugh?

I've wondered this too. When they hired him, I seriously went "Who??" I've asked around and all I've gotten is "It's hard to win at Colorado St." and then the main answer "Man, he coached under Saban.."
Yea, so has Kiffin, and people aren't really beating down his door.

While CSU has had good season those success have been the Mountain West and pretty spread out. MC took mediocre talent and turned them around fast. They were a ver good team this year. I think the belief is with better talent, the result will be better. Sitting here in Colorado for nearly 20 years I would say the change at CSU was amazing.
