I’ve seen a few people saying nobody cares about SCSU

and their HBCU Natty. That got me thinking so I did a few minutes research.
There was an announced attendance at the Celebration Bowl of 48k (rounded).
Compare that to:
Bahamas Bowl- 13k
Cure Bowl- 10k (Coastal Carolina game)
Boca Raton Bowl- 15k
New Mexico Bowl-16k
Independence bowl- 26k (#13 BYU game)
Kimmel Bowl- 30k (Oregon St game)
New Orleans Bowl- 21k (#23 Louisiana game)
Maybe nobody really cares about most college football outside the big boys?

Maybe. Still, if a top 15 team in a bowl draws 20k less than a HBCU game, it makes me think.
Maybe bowls have officially run their course? Time to just end bowl season and expand the playoffs?

When you have a bowl named after a late night talk show host, you know you’ve hit bottom.
Use to love bowl season. Watching games was what you did the week after Christmas. Now you’ve got so many games you don’t even know when they’re on. Besides who wants to watch 6-6 NE South Dakota A&T play 6-6 California Tech in the Jay Leno Depends Undergarment Bowl from Greenbo, AL.

HBCU regular season games can sometimes get 40,000 plus

Which is a lot more than other FCS and a lot of smaller FBS. I think it has more to do with those schools till being a big deal to locals and graduates. They are more social and cultural events than say a small FBS.
And national attention wise, small FBS is treated like much lower level. College football talk shows and analysis will often ignore them altogether.

Most HBCU games don’t come close to 40k. SCSU averaged around 8k at its home games this year.

BYU doesn't travel well nor do they spend money. The joke is that BYU fans bring the 10 Commandments and a 20-dollar bill to bowl games and they do not break either. That's why they got the Independence bowl after a year where they deserved better.

I remember I went to a Texas game in Austin a few years ago and there were a great deal of BYU fans.
