If all u gota do is dribble around screens all day sign me up. No production from your point. Poor recruiting at that position. I saw him play in highschool and wasn't impressed. We need to recruit better.

U seriously want to go there! I played ball D$$ . Hate all u want stats don't lie. Trapp is not bring production at the point enough for us to win. That's the truth and stats back it up. How many points has he had the last 2 games when starting the point? Yea that's what I thought.

First of all he didn't "start" the last two games at point. Second of all, he has taken 3 shots in 2 games, making 1 of them. I don't see what your problem is? When he is on the court he is clearly our last guy in mind to shoot the ball and he plays that role well. So why don't you get off his case; he's an 18yr point guard who will be a pretty darn good player eventually and is extremely athletic as it is

I mean yeah, the guy is being a total Debbie downer, but responses like this always make me laugh. Obviously he's not saying he could take Trapp 1 on 1. What an idiotic response. But then again, it was an idiotic post to begin with...

Everyone stinks when things aren’t going well. He’s a freshman for crying out loud and playing right now because he has to. DeVoe wasn’t an all-star his first year either.

Are you serious with this? He's a freshman, it will take time. Lose the football mentality he was one of the better players in the state. He will be a good player one day.

I think Trapp has looked good
Feb 22, 2018, 7:30 AM
|
|
Overall. He’s got some length for a guard which creates some issues on the D end. He’s shown the ability to drive/create and get fouled. He’s knocked down some 3s. He’s seen pretty limited action in most games but has been critical in some spots. He had a very big game against UNC at home as one example. His ball handling w Grantham out has afforded some much needed rest to the other guards. The bottom line, I think you are absolutely clueless in your knee jerk assessment. He’ll be a much better all round player with experience as most players are. I think he is the 2nd best player in this class as of right now and I think it’s a pretty good class compared to recent classes

Brownell's recruiting in general is still a major concern
Feb 22, 2018, 10:15 AM
|
|
Look at this year's roster.
Grantham and DeVoe were both great recruits 4 years ago in 2014.
In 2015, we signed Ty Hudson and Legend Robertin who both left the program after not panning out.
In 2016, we signed 3* Scott Spencer who has made 27% of his shots so far in his career, and he's scored 5 points all season in conference play.
Maybe the 2017 class will finally be a good one again. Simms looks promising at times, and Trapp has shown a few flashes. Even William has looked decent for a few minutes at a time. But outside of that, look at who plays:
Mitchell - transfer from Vanderbilt Reed - transfer from Robert Morris Thomas - transfer from Texas A&M Skara - transfer from Valparaiso Donnal - transfer from Michigan
The transfers are playing like 60-70% of the teams total minutes, and they're by far our team's biggest contributors. The Mitchell, Reed, and Thomas acquisitions were tremendous, but will it ever happen again? And if it does happen again, are we going to have to sacrifice another season, as we did 2 years ago, as all of those players had to sit-out due to transfer rules.
And then you have to consider the 2018 class. We missed out on Zion Williamson.
I'm definitely enjoying this season, and next year should be tremendous as well, but I still have major concerns about the long-term viability of our program under Brownell due to his inability to recruit.

You've got to understand that where we are as a program we will not have a ton of production from a majority of freshmen.
Sims hasn't just looked promising at times, he's looked much more promising as a freshman than most in recent memory.
You can't judge our recruits off of what they do in their freshman and sophomore years because we do not recruit the one and done types, or if we do we do not land them.
The 2018 class also shows promise based on the film and reviews of the commits.
