Dabo is having his first bad year in a very very very long time, and I understand he shouldn't be criticized as badly as some have done, I understand there should be some slack giving and all that.
But Dabo zeroing in on the "bad, unappreciative fans" is about the lamest thing I've ever seen from a HC of Dabo caliber
For a Head Coach I've admired and defended against the haters for years, Dabo really is making it hard to defend him at this point

The folks that he is speaking of are called “fans” in the loosest sense of the word.
He is spot on with his comments. Anyone offended by what he says may want to look in the mirror.
I believe fans have the right to critique and be unhappy with this season, but the Tyler’s of the world deserve a reality check when it comes to attacking the coach that is responsible for the success over the last several years.
I believe that Dabo will make the changes necessary to get this team back to where he, and the fans, want it to be.

Dabo thinks that all Clemson fans have to be Dabo fans too, and that's BS.
I'm a huge Braves fan but I was never a fan of Bobby Cox and I am not a fan of Brian Snitker. Just because you're a player or a coach of a team doesn't mean everybody who is a fan of the team has to approve of your performance, particularly when you obviously underachieve.

Dabo should be focused on the team and not on fan comments. There is something just not right with the psyche of this team.

He isnt really attacking the fanbase. He has complimented the fanbase. When I think of "fanbase", I don't think of 1.5%

The 1.5% is more like the 60% at this point. You can shut a lot of people up if you keep winning ACC Championships and going to New Years Six bowls, but when you are .500 and struggling for bowl eligibility, it's a problem.

I agree with you oldtelman. This is the United States of the Offended, and everyone has such thin skin. Learn to take your lumps when you deserve them, and don't be afraid to give some lumps when deserved. The Dabo thing... he deserved some of those lumps, but certainly not all that Tyler dished out. Dabo retaliated and people hate that these days.

I agree with your response, but as someone who looks up to Dabo I wish he would've taken the high road by using more civility. For someone who is such a powerful and influential speaker as Dabo is, he stooped down to the caller's level. I loved the Spurrier rant, and some of the other press conference "speeches"- I've defended him for years- but this wasn't a good look. And it's ok for us to disagree- I just think people need to pick their battles and fight in a way that shows more class.

(I can say that), it was not his best moment. But because I understand, and I appreciate what Dabo has done for Clemson, I have no problem cutting him some slack. Having said that, I've been pretty open and vocal with my criticisms as well. I don't think I've made any of it personal, and out of respect I would probably not be as critical in public to Dabo's face as I am blabbing on T-Net. I fully understand the frustration fans like Tyler are feeling as well; I feel it too.
Bottom line, Tyler could have been a little more respectful and careful with his criticisms, and still gotten the points across. AND Dabo could have taken a deep breath and responded better as well.
Look, Dabo himself has created very high expectations for this program. That's what he wanted - it's an inevitable part of the tremendous success he has built. He needs to remember that and live with it. And we need to remember that he did, almost single-handedly build this and bring the tremendous success we have been so fortunate to enjoy, and having a year like we are having, or a few years like the last few, is not cause to call for Dabo's head or lose faith in him as the leader of the program.
Just my opinion, but for now, we all probably need to swallow hard, stand behind Dabo and the team and gut this season out, and hope for the best, and that we can rebuild to a playoff caliber program.
